鬼才、ウォン・カーウァイの作品で、アルゼンチンの美しい自然を背景に、深く愛するあまりお互いを傷つけ合ってしまう男性カップルを描いた「ブエノスアイレス」。その本編からカットされた部分をふくむ秘蔵映像をふんだんに使い、もうひとつのドラマを描き出すセミ・ドキュメンタリーが本作。カットされた部分は、ラブストーリー一色の本編に比べ、人間ドラマ色が濃くなっている。ほかに、2003年に他界したレスリー・チャンと、トニー・レオンの主役ふたりのオフショット、カーウァイ監督とレオンへのインタビューなども盛り込み、「ブエノスアイレス」、ひいてはカーウァイ監督の世界を見せていく。映画作りに一切の妥協を許さないカーウァイのこだわりが垣間見られる。
