Nothing short of breath taking

| CASSHERN is an overall well done real life addaptation to the anime Casshan. The special effects are enough for it to be nominated in America for best Special Effects for the Academy Awards, even though it hasnt been officially released. The action scenes are all extremely well done and deserve to be watched at least twice. However, this movie is not for everyone. I'm not going to pretend it doesnt take a lot of devotion to stick into a 141 minute long movie, because it does. Also, the themes it deals with (such as ethnic cleansing and revenge) aren't for those who are tender hearted. The portrails of these issues in the film are done very emotionaly and well, so you must appriciate that. Then, for movie watchers who w arent willing to delve deep into thought over a few hidden themes in this movie... I wouldnt think you would like it. Myself including, those who do delve into movies deep for a few dyas after to find all the hidden messages (which CASSHERN deffinately has a LOT of), I would reccomend this movie 110% to you. |

Itwas ok?
| The CGI, the effect and the music were awesome.However, the plot really sucked. No connectivity in some part. Very random at some spots. It was dragging. |

WOW
| This movie was awesome. In the beggining it was a little slow but that was to build up a story. There are moments that really gets you going and then there are moments that are extremely emtional and then there are suprises. A must buy. It has it all |

Big to the bone
| This film is great. I like it. But this story line is so familiar with the Final fantasy 7 story line. Almost. Only if you understand the movie. |

Background needed

I live in the US and I know that this film may never be released widely here so I umm acquired a copy. Anyway after watching it I decided that I sure as hell needed some background. As other reviewers have said too much is unexplained, as so much symbolism is used. The lightening bolt for example, I didn't even know that was what is was until I looked for plot descriptions online. This is somewhat typical of Asian cinema however, so I went in knowing that I would probably have to watch this move a few times to understand it. Beautiful visuals, a somewhat jumpy plot that never truly seems to find its rhytm, some good and not so good acting all combined to make a somewhat interesting film that still could have been better. Watch it but don't pay the $50 asked. Also definitely read some background information. I get the feeling this was made with the thouhgt in mind that the audience would have some kind of background. Much as the US X-men, Superman, and Spiderman franchises. |

| Don't take this movie as Action or Thriller or Suspence. Its a politcal movie, for you to understand it, you have to read carefully and connect the dots. If anyone have questions about the movie let me know. |

An "unbe-f*ckin´-lievable" and G-R-E-A-T movie!!!

Alright, what can I tell ya?...just only a few (important) things: CASSHERN is the BEST Japense movie, I have EVER seen! CASSHERN has a GREAT (and complicated)story (VERY philosophical! But that makes the movie so great, not a typical story like the US-Movies!) and an unbelievable sytlish look! CASSHERN is MY new cult movie! *whoo-ha!!* ;o) And after seen this movie, now I know it is only a matter of time until the manga/anime AKIRA comes to "real" life....and I guess the director Kazuaki KIRIYA is the one who has the balls to make it!!!! ;o) This movie is not only extremly recommended....it is a MUST-SEE!!! Not all is black and white like CASSHERN
| CASSHERN not only is one of the best sci-fi movies ever, but it's also an excellent movie regarding war and life itself. With today's media, who's to say what is good and evil? What gives the right for a country to invade another? What gives mankind the right to take away human life? CASSHERN asks all those questions and more, in an amazing vivid colored movie with extra-ordinary special effects. CASSHERN may have been written in the 70s, but it's story still reflect's today's society regardless. |

a serious lecture about war and stuff
| could someone please bring back the fun in movie watching! I am not particular impressed with the transfer of the film either... lots of cross processing and bleach bypass on top of mpeg2 compression... this DVD is hard to watch on a plasma TV... wait for the $15.00 US release. I liked the packaging though. |
