The story begins with the plans of scientist Higashi Kotaro to create a race of androids to assist humans in their daily lives. However, during a violent storm, the most capable android, known as BK-1, is struck by lightning, causing him to come online and set his own evil agenda. Known as Burai King Boss, the android turns on Dr. Higashi, who barely escapes with his son. Soon, Burai King Boss and the other androids begin to carry out their evil plans, with the eventual goal of raising an entire army of robots to wipe out humanity. Higashi's son, Tetsuya, volunteers to undergo an experimental process that will turn him into an android - the only way to battle the evil androids. And thus is born Casshern. With his new body and abilities, Casshern wages a one-man war on the army of androids in a desperate battle to save the human race from complete annihilation.
Box set includes all 35 episodes (15 hours) of the original Casshern, collected on 3 DVDs in a compact "tall case." Also included are 3 16 page all color booklets (total 48 pages) including detailed documentation of the series. Additionally, each disc contains plenty of bonus footage, with rare images, photo gallery, and more. Both box and inner jackets are illustrated with art from the anime.
