中國代表團此次派出284名運動員參賽，以金牌28枚、獎牌總數59枚的優異成績一舉躍入了獎牌榜世界三強行列，中國軍團第一次躋身於第一軍團。本屆奧運會，中國代表團在乒乓球、羽毛球、女舉、跳水和射擊等五個優勢項目項奪得的金牌佔了２８枚金牌總數的四分之三。
The 27th Olympics was held from 15th, September to 1st, October of 2000 in Sydney of Australia.
This time Chinese delegation consisted of 284 athletes. With the excellent result of 28 gold medals and total 59 medals, China became one member of the world's top three sports powers. And China joined the top elite of spors powers for the first time. In this Olympics, chinese delegation won 28 gold medals occupying three fourths of totlal ones in five competitions which they had advantages on—table tennis, badminton, women's weightlifting, diving, and shooting.
