Sam Hui and Polly Shang Kwan are back as everyone's favorite pair of streetwise vagabonds in director Lo Wei's 1974 sequel to the previous year's Backalley Princess. Also known, appropriately enough, as Backalley Princess in Chinatown, Chinatown Capers chronicles the further, trans-Pacific misadventures of "Embroidered Pillow" (Hui) and "Chili Boy" (Shang Kwan), who find themselves transplanted from Hong Kong to San Francisco. The budget-conscious Lo shot the movie back-to-back with another California-based production, the Don Wong/Chuck Norris actioner Slaughter in San Francisco, and the two films share many of the same cast, crew, and locations. But if Slaughter in San Francisco is a typically grim-faced Chuck Norris outing, the second Backalley Princess adventure is the cheerful antidote, thanks to another delightful gender-bending performance from Polly Shang Kwan.

Ever the pair of do-gooding drifters, Embroidered Pillow and Chili Boy always come the aid of Hong Kong's downtrodden and oppressed - even if it means traveling all the way to America! This time the two friends are off to San Francisco's Chinatown in search of a millionaire's missing daughter (Sylvia Chang, who also appears in Slaughter in San Francisco), who has vanished under shady circumstances. Typical Backalley Princess shtick ensues, including the duo's disastrous stint waiting tables in a Chinese restaurant and run-ins with the local street gangs. But just when things are looking hopeless, Sam and Polly find the lead they need, and the chase is on!

Our two young heroes, Little Chili and Embroidered Pillow, go to the aid of millionaire Lin whose beautiful daughter Sylvia Lin has disappeared in San Francisco without a trace. The pair find employment as waiters in a restaurant owned by a Chinese businessman. However they soon lose their job after tangling with a group of teddy boys from one of the street gangs......
