Tony Leung Chiu Wai heads to prison in Chinese Midnight Express, a harrowing prison drama from director Billy Tang. The setting is 1960s Hong Kong, and righteous reporter On (Tony Leung Chiu Wai) publishes an article exposing corruption in the police force. Unfortunately, he's framed for drug distribution and confesses to the charges when the corrupt cops (led by Ben Ng) threaten his family. Forced to undergo the rigorous hazing rites of all new inmates, On struggles to regain hope and rise above his situation. Meanwhile, On's loyal girlfriend (Pinky Cheung) is terrorized by the cops who put him away, and On faces new challenges ?and even finds new allies ?while stuck in prison.
Like Ringo Lam's Prison on Fire, Chinese Midnight Express is a gripping genre film which depicts the struggle of an imprisoned man trying to retain his principles and self-respect. Tony Leung Chiu Wai demonstrates his unparalleled star charisma, and Richard Ng Man Tat provides able support as Brother Plane, the veteran inmate who shows On the ropes. Also starring a cast of solid Hong Kong film veterans, including Lam Kwok Bun, Wan Yeung Ming, Law Kar Ying and Elvis Tsui.

The best Chinese prison movie
|
If you get a better Chinese prison movie, then write please a review and I will believe you for this time and check it myself. It's real hard motion pictures ! True love or not, the gangster in this movie won't care about it. One of the best Tony Leung movie ! |

good
| this is one good prison show but it's damn depressing. Tony's character gets framed, sent to prison, bullied, beaten etc etc... But as usual, Tony Leung does not fail his fans. His melancholic air matches perfectly his famously expressive eyes, his indignation at being framed, and his determination to survive. Its a story about friendship, love and most of all, strength. It's a typical prison show but you should watch it just for Tony's performance. |
