Adapted from Patrick Marber's acclaimed play, Closer is an emotionally taxing, beautifully provocative, and scathingly realistic portrait of modern relationships. With contemporary London as background, the tangled love story follows two couples caught in a self-destructive cycle of infatuation and deception. Directed by Mike Nichols (Working Girl), the film finds pitch-perfect chemistry in its electric casting of Jude Law, Julia Roberts, Natalie Portman, and Clive Owen.

Aspiring novelist Dan (Jude Law) makes a living writing obituaries, and not very good ones at that. He finds both love and muse in Alice (Natalie Portman), a sprightly American runaway and exotic dancer who wears her love on her sleeve. One year later, Dan meets photographer and recent divorcee Anna (Julia Roberts), who gives him the cold shoulder. As retaliation, Dan sets her up with self-assured, sex-obsessed dermatologist Larry (Clive Owen). The two unexpectedly hit it off and eventually get married, only for Dan and Anna to fall into an affair. Inextricably and obstinately bound to each other, the four become obsessed with loving and hurting each other in a relentless game of hot and cold, love and hate, truth and lies. The closer they are, the less they know, the more they hurt.

　　初抵倫敦的愛麗斯(妮坦莉寶雯飾演)在街上與小說作家丹(袓迪羅飾演)遇上，兩人火速墜入愛河，共賦同居。丹決定為女友寫一本小說，並將她在影樓拍的照片放在書內。丹雖已有女友愛麗斯，卻仍與替愛麗斯拍照的攝影師安娜(茱莉亞羅拔絲飾演)調情。丹並假扮女性以安娜這名字於網上與醫生萊利(佳夫奧雲飾演)調情，卻巧合地造就了萊利和安娜的情緣。

though it's a good film, i do not quite understand the deep meanin' of this film... it's just an ordinar' film 2 me 2 be honest.. however, i still enjoyed wathchin' it an'wa'...

This movie is really good. The performances buy all four are great. Especially by Natalie Portman. Everyone is so used to her in roles where she is like so naive and innocent buy she blows you out of the water in this movie. This is a movie for mature people.
