The story takes place in the late 60s. Ho Wai is a businessman from the South East Asia. He wants to do some business in Hong Kong, but he is extravagant and spends all his money quickly. Then he gets to know Bo, who is honest and simple-hearted. But he's just lost his job and is despondent. Ho Wai encourages him to bestir himself. They become good friends. They rent a room and live together, each making his own living. However, they run into Tai Yeuk-lan, a private tutor, who becomes their neighbour. Siu-ping secretly loves Bo. She is very unhappy that Bo treats Yeuk-lan so well. But Yeuk-lan loves Ho Wai. She just can't say it. Ho Wai understands that he will let Yeuk-lan down because of his slackness, and makes up his mind to change. Yeuk-lan receives a letter from overseas and learns that her lover is seriously ill. Ho Wai and Bo raise some money for Yeuk-lan, who is deeply touched and tells them that the "lover" is her brother. She just wanted to test Ho Wai's sincerity. In the end, both pairs of lovers are happy.
