Often compared to Korea's Dae Jang Geum and Hong Kong's War and Beauty, the big budget costume drama Concubines Of Qing Emperor is about the struggles and conflicts between a group of royal concubines and other palace dwellers during the reign of Daoguang Emperor in Qing Dynasty China. Similar to its cousins, the 30-episode Mainland Chinese production achieved robust ratings when it was aired in China in 2006. Part of its success can be attributed to the cast, which is made up of famous television stars from Hong Kong (Alice Chan, Benny Chan Ho Man, Benny Chan Chin Pang), Taiwan (Annie Yi, Victor Huang), Mainland China (Hu Jing, Huo Siyan, Pan Hong), and Singapore (Florence Tan).

Product Information

This is a story about a life and death stuggle of the imperial consorts in Qing Dynasty. There are two factions in the Forbidden Palace: Chuan Fei and Xiang Bin (Anne Yi). As Chuan fears of losing the emperor's affection, she wants to find a substitute for her in the imperial concubine selection to fight with Xiang over the position of Empress. Si Lin Chun (Hu Jing) ran away on her wedding day to enter into the imperial concubine selection and she met a man called Ding An (Victor Huang) on the way. Jing Zhen (Alice Chan) and Lord Yi Hui (Benny Chan) grew up together and are deeply in love with each other, but one day Jing determines to be a beloved concubine of the emperor for the betterment of the Mongolia-Qing relationship. The desperate Lord Yi ui finds all kinds of excuses to see Jing constantly. On the other hand, Si finds solace in Lord Yi Hui. The bizarre love triangel turns the Forbidden Palace to a even more chaotic place.
