Following from the previous post, why would Taiseng sell the shorter version instead of the extended version, anyone know where to buy the extended version? What has been deleted out from the extended version?

Highly recommanded to buy the China version of this film.(14 dvds full version}.i have buy hundreds of different movies ,I never buy the compress version.The picture quality of this dvd is no doubt the best.Looks like you are watching high definition tv . The scenery is so good & stunning.This is a must for big screen tv.

Overall, this series was great! The scenary was beautiful, awesome action scenes (some last pretty long), and good actors. All the girl characters in the story were pretty as well.

Only thing that I didn't like about it was that was that the audio was not 5.1, and in some scenes you can still clearly see the wiring hanging on the actors. Besides that it was good, highly recommended!

Now this is the shortened version which was released for tv, I wish they would have the extended version available for purchase as well.

I'd like to see Tai Seng products with better description about disc format. Most of their VCDs are actually low-budget CD-R with no color or picture on the face of the discs.

And a lot of their re-released DVDs, mostly movies, are actually low-budget DVD-R with only ink-jet printing on the disc face.

As they claimed themselves to be the largest Chinese language entertainment media producer in the North America, they should make better quality discs for customers. Other producers such as ETTV or World Video & Supply have better discs in terms of format and printing.

Just for clarification.
The China version has only 14 DVDs (in 2 spearate boxes) and altogether contained 41 Episodes.
Buy this for sheer enjoyment of the story.

 Update on the Dolby 5.1 Surround Issue Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
Yup, the US version published by Taiseng has only Dolby 1.0 surround sound. Click display on your DVD player and you will see it only has Dolby 1.0 instead of 5.1 surround sound as indicated by the Box. Reply from Yesasia customer service: "after checking with our supplier, we are sorry that the product information provided by our supplier was not accurate before. "Condor Hero (Vol.1-41) (End) (US Version) " does not come with Dolby Digital 5.1." Hopefully they will fix it soon.

Anyone noticed that they may have used some of the old Andy Lau TVB Condor Hero background music in this remake? Whether they did or not, this remake is still pretty good and worth watching. I dont think they cut any parts out to fit in 41 chapters. Instead of letting you see what happened in the past, they just talked about it instead. Like in the beginning why little yen gor winded up in the temple...the original showed you why but here they just talked about what had happened. You might feel a little lost if you never read the book or watched any other condor heros tv series.

One last comment, there's one thing you dont get to hear and FEEL between yen gor and his goo-goo in this remake. The way how Andy Lau-yen gor says "goo-goo" and how she softly articulates "gor-yee" in the 1980s TVB series. You can feel in your heart, of the love and chemistry they had just from their tone of voice. Like most new remakes, majority of all the actors/actresses voices are dubbed so you lose all that.

 Dolby Digital. Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
For some strange reason, mines had Dolby Digital 5.1 as the box said. I was able to use to surround speakers perfectlly. The producer ZJZ is very well known for the beautiful scenes he film. I felt the CG was a bit overused near the end.

Like the previous poster, my copy also has just the center channel sound. Not Dolby digital 5.1 as stated on the box. Not sure if it's just one particular batch. I may have to return it as I find it unacceptable. Hopefully they will correct it soon. Or I'll have to order the version from China.

But I must say the series is very well done. I have only watched the first few episodes, love the scenaries. I think Liu Yifei's role as Xiao Long Nu is perfect. The pace is quite a bit faster than what's in the book, looks like some side stories have been cut, probably to fit the time/resource constrain. Also wish they have English subtitle.
