When Lo Wei joined the Shaw Brothers, he was already a renowned actor and director. This was his very first film for the studio, co-starring himself as a small-town despot in a Romeo And Juliet-flavored story. Daughters are stripped and imprisoned, fires are started, and family skeletons are revealed and desperate lovers brave dangerous waters in this romantic tearjerker – Lo Wei’s first film for the Shaw Brothers Studio.
