It's different...
| Many people say that this sounds like Americanized jazz fused pop rock, and it may be true. Cry no More reminded me of gospel music. All she needed was a choir and it woulda been great for church--not one of my favorite tastes in music, but it was okay I guess. Black & Blue was way better than the first track. It's fast paced jazz/rock with a catchy chorus that's partially sung in English. I think it was written by the same person who wrote Seven. Not sure though, but that was a great song. I was slightly disappointed with this single, but it's OK. |

In response to a review below; this single is in Japanese. The chorus is in English. This single, in my opinion, is not one of her best. I have heard better. Although I do love the cover and PV. Her voice ceases to amaze me; this single does prove the woman can sing; but I am not feeling the melody too much. The whole church piano scene; not my thing entirely. I feel the music towards the end, and this is a bad sign. An artist should try to captivate intrest towards the beginning of a song; not the end. |

Not bad!
| "CRY NO MORE" is what a voice like Nakashima Mika's was MEANT to sing, period. It starts off like a classic gospel song with strong humming and a soulful, jerky piano, but leads into Mika singing mid-tempo until she reaches the climax of the chorus of "I don't wanna cry no more!" This is definitely for those who love gospel and jazz-fusion songs. If you liked "Amazing Grace," then this will also be for you. It's a sad, but powerful song with piano, trumpets and Mika's booming voice. The second track, "BLACK&BLUE" is entirely different. If you loved anything from the NANA Movie soundtrack or Mika's typical upbeat songs, this song is yours! It's got a rock edge meets pop-punk feel. The only thing that ties this in with "CRY NO MORE" is the trumpets. I imagine myself in a 1950s poodle skirt when I listen to this song, it's got that sort of impact, haha. This is a nice single, but you do get the feeling that without the music video, the strength of this single decreases. To truly understand "CRY NO MORE," I'd suggest watching the music video as well. |

Wonderfull
| CRY NO MORE is a beautiful ballad, not like Yuki no Hana or Sakura Iro Mau koro, more jazzy and stylish. The coupling track, BLACK & BLUE is awesome, it's very catchy and Mika's voice is perfect for it. Lori Fine is really one of the best song writers out there. Get this single! |
