• Are Blu-ray discs Region Coded?
  • Blu-ray Discs may be formatted with a specific Region Code intended to restrict the area of the world in which they can be played. Blu-ray Disc players manufactured for sale in a certain region may only play discs encoded for that region. However, some discs are produced without region coding, so they can be played on all Blu-ray devices.

    Blu-ray discs may be classified with the following Region Codes:
    Region All Blu-ray Region All The Blu-ray disc does not possess a Region Code and will play in all territories on all players.
    Region A Blu-ray Region A The Blu-ray disc is formatted for play on Blu-ray players manufactured for sale in the Americas (North, Central and South except French Guiana), Korea, Japan, South East Asia (including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan)
    Region B Blu-ray Region B The Blu-ray disc is formatted for play on Blu-ray players manufactured for sale in Europe, Africa, Oceania (including Australia and New Zealand), Middle East, French Territories, Greenland
    Region C Blu-ray Region C The Blu-ray disc is formatted for play on Blu-ray players manufactured for sale in Russia, Mainland China, India, Central and South Asia
