Jewel in the Palace is one of a kind. I've never seen a series quite like it. The roles were portrayed naturally by the actors. From the beginning to the end, we were so engrossed by the story, captivated by the characters splendidly portrayed by the actors and enthralled by the sheer beauty of the costumes. Jang jeum and min jio ho as well as the other actors were great. we could feel every emotions and passions each character conveyed so much so that we still hunger for more. I personally believe that though there be a thousand episodes still the movie would be the best. No wonder 'Jewel in the Palace' rated top in asia. No film could equal Jewel in the Palace.' We hope that more films be created like 'Jewel in the palace.' Of course with the same actors for i believe that they have done and given their very best. Good luck and more power to the casts and crew of 'Jewel in the Palace' hopefully there will be more films like it. Once again CONGRATULATIONS JANG JEUM.

 Best Korean tv series ever Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I've watched it twice, once on tv and once on DVDs. The latter was watched in Korean and it's even better to hear the actors/actresses' own voice. The courage and persistence of JG was very inspiring. The love the couple shown for each other was gradual but true. The love of the King was conservative but brave. The scenery and song/theme music were all very awesome. Even the small characters, such as her foster parents, acted well. My eyes watered while watching the whole series! I highly recommend it to drama lovers.

Watching this epic drama is like making many wonderful friends (and a couple of bitter enemies). After watching the last episode I was filled with a kind of sadness that I had to bid my friends Sir Min, Jang Geum, Lady Min and all the rest goodbye. I felt like we had been through a lot together!

Which is the genius of this series - if someone explained to you out of context about what goes on, you might think it would be boring to watch somebody cook, some jealous women scheme for position, old codgers argue endlessly about politics and so on. But the way it's presented you *feel* it, you care about it. You recognize someone you know, good or not-so-good, in the characters and you can deeply feel their hurts, their joys and their struggles to live their lives.

The costumes and set are simply amazing. I'm a pretty critical viewer and I didn't see any careless mistakes like happen in so many Hollywood productions. The scenery is breathtaking at times, and the cinematography is outstanding. Sometimes you want to just hit the 'pause' button to enjoy the lovely Jang Geum against a backdrop of the palace, forests, mountains, the sea. The storyline is so compelling though that it's hard to pause even for a moment!

I've never been to Korea, don't speak Korean and am not that well-versed in Korean history but had *no* trouble following the plot or understanding the meaning of what the characters were trying to express. Part of this is from the excellent English subtitles, but most of it is just from the universality of the drama. I would recommend it to anyone of any age who enjoys a good story, beautiful scenery and has an appreciation for the triumph of good over evil.

I don't have the dvd but i know that it is a great series. I would like to know if this dvd contain the prologue of bowie lam talking about the series. Howfully the next person that rate this series can let me know if it is included.

this is a kind of korean drama that i usually don't watch but after 2 episodes i was so fascinated by the story. it is interesting to see the traditinal korean cuisine and the traditinal korean medicine.the fact that this person lived in 16 century and became the first personel woman physician of the king in korean history is so great and unique.the hole story is so exciting you go with jang geum's life and you can see how hard she works to achieve her goal. there are few moments which really touching me. and last but not least there is a really nice love story. this guy always supports JG whatever she does and he is always there for her. fantastic!!! one of the best couple in korean drama.

i loved EVERY SINGLE MOMENT of Dae Jang Geum, it inspired me to dream, hope, aim for high goals. the story is very inpirational, filled with love, hate, competition, friendships, especially towards the end. recommend it to everyone!!

This is a great movie i ever seen. I don't watch korean series much but this one I adict to it. As u see the first episode and u want to continue the next one. for those who never watch or watch korean movie i recomment all such go out and rent it or buy it is such a good movie you would like to collect.

 the best tv drama i have ever seen. no other tv. Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
There is no other tv drama that can compare to Jewel of the Palace. It is surpub and if I had the oppertunity I would give this show six stars. I happened to come across this tv show by mistake, it was when jang-geum was a little girl and was given the task to do all the duties.The actors performance was outstanding and I wanted to see more and understand what was going on. I am now hooked to Jewel of the Palace, and I don't care what plans I have for the day but when 4:00 comes my only focus is Jewel of the Palace. I am a college student and I came up with a way I could watch the show and still make it to mt classes. But that was to much work, so i decided to re- schedule my class to accomodate the time needed to watch the show. I am the number ONE FAN and i plan to order the collection for myself and family members. Today i was to take a driving test at 4:00, and i told the guy that I could not make it because i had other plans for that time. Excellent
