Intense... Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I am Korean who's been raised with all American family since 9 years of age so I no longer speak Korean. I loved the historical point of view. I brought back memories of wearing the traditional wear which I always thought was very beautiful. The acting for all the actors were very good. I almost didn't buy the 2nd set of the DVDs but I am so glad that I did and than continued with the 3rd and last set. I think Ji Jin Hee is so different and likeable in this drama. He plays funny part in Miss Kim Adventure in Making a Million and not so likeable one in Love Letter though he looked great in it, his part in Spring Days was also great and very likeable. Watch this...you will love it

I have never seen that soap drama has subversive power and message like Dae jang-guem.
You got to show this in middle east country.

This will have better effect than doing screwy war over there.

This series is superly done. I had the same experience with every DaeJangGeum viewers. Once I started watching the first episode, I was hooked. Even though I had to work the next morning, I kept myself awake chasing chapter after chapter. Not only with beautiful cast, the story is beautifully written as well. I really felt for JangGeum. It's so nice to see Min Jee Ho and JangGeum together. As a matter of fact, DaeJangGeum has been a subject of discussion among my friends.

I would recommend this series to anyone and hope there will be a sequal following DaeJangGeum.

I love this whole drama and hv been watching over n over again tho not understanding the korean language nor with the chinese subs. I wud highly recommend everyone to watch it. I wish the producer will hv more of its own kind to hv the Lee Young Ae and Ji Jin Hee (the actress n actor)acting together again. Both so compatible. I intend to buy the CDs for keeps.

I received Dae Jang Geum and I had a similar problem with the disc. I emailed customer service and they are sending me a replacement. That's good because Dae Jang Geum is an AWESOME drama.

Great show. I love it. However disc 2 (episodes 22-24) freezes. I checked other discs and it has the same problem. Hopefully the manufacturer can replace the disc for me. Do anybody else has similar problems? Otherwise I would have easily given this volume a 10 rather than a 9.

This segment of the series is the most inspiring in my opinion. We see Jang Geum struggle with great injustice and terrible trials, but the best thing about her situation was that no matter what anybody did to her, she just got bigger and bigger and ended right back in their faces. If it's very closely based on historical events, her staying power is almost eerie. As with all of the series, her difficulties have alot of modern applicability, so I think it has alot of relevance and serves as a good example of how to handle life. All of the series could have done better clarifying how much time had passed from one event to the other, especially for Western audiences who have never seen Korean history books - few are translated into English, and none that I've seen that are mention Jang Geum. I also really liked the way Yeung-Seng came into her own in this part and the final part, because the changes she goes through really brings out the sweetness and attractiveness of her character. The series serves as a great introduction to Korean history and is very memorable.

This segment of the series was very intense with the schemes of the corrupt faction of the court against innocent Jang Geum and her friends, but it was so worth enduring Jang Geum's trials with her that I have to say this is my favorite TV series I've ever seen in my life in American/English, Chinese or Korean cultures. The types of difficulties Jang Geum goes through are easily applicable even to modern corporate life, so it's hard not to be inspired. In this segment, Min Jung-Ho really shines as a incredible figure, and even weeks after finishing the series, some of his speeches give me goosebumps and I like to think about them. The production is great, though the subtitle quality slips a little this time. I'm very grateful that it was offered with English subtitles since I can't yet read or understand Korean. This is a historical figure worthy of study and admiration even by Westerners, and I'm now interested in reading more about her. What a series!

I must admit, the first time I heard about this movie, I almost didn't watch it because I thought it was a boring story line. Who wants to watch a bunch of women cooking and competing for the top position. But I was quickly proven wrong. The kitchen provided a background for the movie, but it was the lessons taught in the movie that really made the movie. Sticky to your convictions, being true to yourself, never giving up, having faith in love. I would recommend this movie to anyone.
