YesAsia Editorial Description

Following the ground-breaking success of the legendary horror film Ring and its sequel, director Hideo Nakata presents a stripped-down, old-school chiller written by Koji Suzuki who is best known as "the Stephen King of Japan."

Yoshimi Matsubara (Hitomi Kuroki) is about to reach a divorce agreement with her husband concerning the custody of their daughter Ikuko. In order to start a brand new life with her daughter, she moves into a spacious apartment which looked nice enough at first visitings. However, right after they move in, weird and creepy things start happening. The ceiling starts leaking whenever it rains, and strange footsteps are heard from somewhere above, and worst of all, her daughter starts acting very strange. Soon, she finds out about the disappearance of a young girl who used to live a floor above her place, and even more unexpected things happen...

Professional Review of "Dark Water (DVD) (English Subtitled) (Hong Kong Version)"

April 24, 2005

Hideo Nakata strikes again with this sodden chiller Dark Water , which had me nearly crawling over the back of the seat to get away from it. Less berserk than Ring and sharing some plot points, but eventually just as creepy and certainly more moving as a mother strives to keep her daughter safe from her ex-husband and that persistent leak in the ceiling.

Cool, but... Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I loved this movie, but I don't get why her mother gave up her life... I get everything that has happened, but not that part... Can someone explain to me why Ikuko's mother did what she did?

kowai eiga! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I just finished watching Dark Water, and I've still got chills running through me! This isn't one of those "I'll swallow your soul" horror flicks like Juon or One Missed Call, but it still manages to be effectively terrifying though glimpses of a ghostly entity and anxious anticipation. At the *very* end there's a scene that's not a shocker like, "Eeek! The End," but it still sent a wave of terror through me!

A must see movie Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Hey you horror lovers:
This movie is about a Mother and Daughter. and the love they have for each other..The mother is getting a divorce. In order for her husband not to take away her daughter from her..she get's a new job..and move in this apt. house.
this way the lawlers can't say she's not setteled..the problem though is that she had to search fast at a certain date..and had to move in a building that really is not all that..
No sooner she moves in and trouble starts with the ceilling dripping of water, and it's not just water, but a gost..that died in water..
this movie has it all..the actors was real good..and I love the way it was written..aside from being scary it also breaks your heart.

FANTASTIC Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This movie is more well put together and much more scarier than the ring. I especially like the music, when Ikuko opens the little red bag. Only having watched it today, I was feeling sick to my stomach with the mixed feelings of sadness and scaredness. I think that it has a very slow beginning but as it builds up it gets more and more terrifying. A must for Ju-On and Ringu fans.
