Different ending from what I saw when the movie ca

This review is based on the DVD edition of this movie, put out by the same company. Spoilers alert! I first saw the movie when it came out--I don't know if there were other changes made, but the most significant difference between what I saw and this version is the ending--in the version I saw, the adoptive mom actually tells the daughter where to find the father (Andy Lau) and she goes to the nursing home to see him and feeds him some congee. The ending makes a big difference in how you feel at the end of the movie. For this version, the daughter writes a letter to the father and promises to be a good daughter--she doesn't know that he is still alive, while the father's friend tells him that it's better for her not to see him as he is. I hope a different version of this movie will be released, with the ending that I saw. (Which is more emotionally satisfying, IMO.) |

| This is like one of those classic HK romance stories...best of the bests! Andy Lau looked awesome and the storyline is very well tightened...At least better than the "Titanic" in my opinion.. |

Not Just Romeo and Juliet
| This movie is more than just telling the story of a pair of doomed lovers; it also does a fine job in character development. This movie moves along nicely and gets away from the usual problem of similar chick movie about obsessive love. In other words you see very few scenes of teary eyes begging for love. I especially like the setting of this movie around early '60s in New Territories HK. The music score is also excellent. |
