August 23, 2007 Sifow - Love SpellSifow is such a gifted and talented artist and I can't understad that she does it sooo bad in the (oricon) charts. She has such a unique sound, which you don't hear often. But what can I say about this album... It contains twelve tracks and only four new songs and one new remix!? I know Sifow (die-hard) fans really adore her, but even on (Sifow) forums they say they (some of them) cancelled their copy of "Love Spell" and some of them stick to Sifow and wanted to support her in her career by buying her new album. But what can I say more about this new album... After receiving my copy I first listen to the new tracks (because I already own her previous singles), I'm glad their GOOD (Pfeeww...) (in my opinion ^_^) they are very versatile and Sifow will also do a ballad on track 10 "Iinoni..." <3. The DVD contains the PV's for "Carat", "Rule" and "Natsu Hanabi" which is also a reason to buy this album, because Sifow always has good and stunning PV's. This album is totally(!) worth to buy if your new to Sifow, don't own her previous singles for this album or you are a (die-hard) fan!! Otherwise this album doesn't bring anything special with it. I would LOVE to give this album a 10/10 because I really like Sifow's music but that wouldn't be fair. I give it a 8/10 for the four new songs and the new remix, the DVD and the lovely cover+booklet. Hopefully she will do better in the (oricon) charts in the future... Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

August 22, 2007 Leah Dizon - Destiny LineI can't believe what people are writing about this new upcoming album from Leah Dizon. Ok, she is a model and (almost) sexy everytime in her photoshoots. She is a gravure model... so what do you expect!? These girls are always on the edge of being sexy and crossing the line. I think the reason Leah is doing very well in the (oricon) charts is because she is a good entertainer. She has the looks, great dancer and a pretty good voice (I think personally). I know she doesn't speak the Japanese language or just a little bit, but I never knew that since a read it somewhere on the internet and honestly I don't hear it in her (Japanese) songs either. The pronunciation is very good (but maybe that's because I'm not a Japanese origin). Anyway... I'm really looking forward to this album and I also pre-ordered my copy already. Leah makes good and fun music. I think she brings the "Pop" back in "J-Pop". Favourites are all the singles off course, but I also like it that they put all my favourite B-sides on the album, like; Track 10 "Aishiteru ~ Love Story" That's my favourite off all!! ^_^ Pre-order while FIRST PRESS is STILL available! 10/10 Did you find this review helpful? June 20, 2007 Amuro Namie - PlayFinally Amuro Namie's new album has arrived!! PLAY is truly the best album Amuro has released yet. If you thought Amuros last album Queen Of Hip-Pop was good you will definitely love this album. I already listened to it and I must say, it sounds amazing. First up is "Hide & Seek". I really enjoyed this song as the opening of the album. Second is "Full Moon" which is a more up-tempo R&B track with some mysterious background sounds in it. Truly something I've never heard before and probably one of the best tracks on the album (in my opinion ^_^). The Third song is the up-tempo R&B/Dance track "Can't Sleep, Can't Eat, I'm Sick". Very danceable! The fourth track is a more rockish track called "It's All About You", which reminds me (a little bit) of the songs Amuro released ages ago before she turned her music more to R&B. I can't say I really like this song that much, but it's a nice change for the album. Die-hard Amuro Namie fans will grow into it (I think). Fifth track is another up-tempo song (and latest single) called "Funky Town". I like this song, but you can compare this song a LITTLE bit to "Can't Sleep, Can't Eat, I'm Sick". Next track is number six "Step With It", another up-tempo song. All I can say about this song, is that it's just nice... Nothing new or special about this song. ^_~ Follow up is the seventh song "Hello". This song is just great. Really love this song, you will love it to! The eight song is a ballad called "Should I Love Him?" This is the only ballad on this album and luckily a very good one! I especially love the beginning of this song. Next track is number nine "Top Secret", the theme song for the American television show "Prison Break". If youve ever seen the show, you will agree that this song fits perfectly in it. Track ten is the B-side single from "White Light" namely "Violet Sauce". Very mysterious and dark R&B song. It was the image song for American movie "Sin City". The next track is the light up-tempo song "Baby Don't Cry", a dreamy R&B song which is really nice. Finally the last track on "Play" is "Pink Key", an up-tempo R&B song with a happy tune in it. After listening to this album you will probably press the play button again, because this album is really good and I think this album could get Amuro once again at the #1 spot were she belongs!! October 31, 2006 BoA - Winter LoveYes, finally my favourite holiday season is coming; CHRISTMAS!! ^_^ And what is better than a new Christmas single from BoA to end the year. The new single includes a lovely a-side ballad "Winter Love", a very touching and heartbreaking ballad. The PV looks stunning and BoA looks more beautiful everytime she makes a new PV. Further there are two more b-side songs if you include the first pressing, which includes "Last Christmas" which is a cover from WHAM!, "Candle Lights" is another ballad that fits perfectly in the "Winter Love" mood and "Last Christmas" is a wonderful cover and I think BoA did a great job, her English is very improved! Overall, very good single but if you're looking for another good christmas single I also recommend her other Christmas single "MerryChri"! Absolutely worth 10 out of 10! Love Concent (ALBUM+DVD)(Limited Edition)(Japan Version)
October 7, 2006 hitomi - LOVE CONCENTEverytime I hear Hitomi sings I always recognize her voice. Her voice is so unique and definitely one of a kind. That's why I like her. I think Hitomi really has grown since her latest album TRAVELER. The songs have more diversity and the sound is more mature. At first I wasn't that thrilled about the cover, but when I received my copy of the album I really like what they did with the booklet, most of the pages you can fold out and every picture makes one big picture with Hitomi three or four times in it. Very funny!! ^_^ The DVD that comes with the limited edition is nice and I really enjoyed myself watching the PV's "Japanese girl", "GO MY WAY" & "Ai no Kotoba", but I'm missing two PV's, where are "Love Angel" and "CRA"G"Y*MAMA"?? x_x The [BONUS MOVIE] is also a nice extra; it's a making shot in Los Angeles. Overall, I give this limited edition version of Hitomi's album "LOVE CONCENT" a 9 out of 10, just because I'm missing the two PV's, but further this album really ROCKS! I can recommend this album to everyone who's interested in modern J-Pop with a mix of rock music. Well done Hitomi... ^^ Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

October 6, 2006 Mai - MaiselfSince her debut single "Reborn" (I didn't know her in her early days as Ruppina) I didn't like this style of music at all, but a few singles later and a full album I give this album a try and bought it a week ago, after I finished listening to it I really enjoyed this album and was very surprised with the varity on this album. It was better than expected! My favourite songs are "Reborn", "It's A Little Luck", "Rosy Rosa Lollipop", "Princess Candy", "Bye Bye Blues" and "Eyes". The DVD consists of three PV's ("Reborn", "Eyes", "Princess Candy") and a "Complete Body Painting Offshot Visual". I think Mai is a very talented artist with originality because in all her PV's (after Ruppina) she is naked, even on the album jackets. If you look closely you can see that the green bikini is actually body paint. VERY ORIGINAL! This is for the people who are interested in buying this album and wondering if the first pressing is still available with the 16-page booklet of nude body painting (produced by Nomiya Maki, formerly of Pizzicato Five). Well, I didn't received it with my album. So, I would say it's out of print. But I don't mind... I'm not missing it. Overall, only ten songs (CD+DVD version) but still a strong and good album. A must buy for all J-Pop fans! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Eternal Rain (ALBUM+DVD)(Hong Kong Version)
October 6, 2006 Rain - Eternal RainFirst of all, this review is for the Hong Kong version of Rain's album "Eternal Rain". The DVD that comes with this version is NOT a region 3, but a region 2 (NTSC) DVD. This is stated on the DVD itself. I really like all the songs on this album, including the English version of "Sad Tango". Rain's English is in fact very good I think personally, also the remix of "Free Way" is a nice extra on the album, very danceable. This album is a great Japanese debut, a lot of up-tempo songs with R&B influences, danceable songs and also a few ballads. There are a few tracks on the DVD. The first track; "Live performance footage" gives us a preview of Rain's concerts given the last year till now. The quality of this track is very poor and probably filmed by an amateur (I guess). Second; "Photo sessions" and last; "Interview" which you only can understand if you speak Japanese, but there are subtitles (I think Chinese). I give this album an 8 out of 10, just because the quality of the DVD isn't that good and looks a little bit poor, there are also no PV's and the DVD is overall a little bit boring. I bought this version only because the normal Hong Kong version price is exactly the same as this version. But I recommend this album to everybody just because of the music and I think that counts the most! ^_^ Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Wow!! Coco - Hip Hop Tonight (Preorder Edition)

September 22, 2006 Wow!! Coco - Hip Hop TonightWhen you buy a CoCo Lee album you know you get something special and not some ordinary everyday chinese album. This release is truly a masterpiece. I really enjoyed listening to all the songs (10 excactly) The first track "Hip Hop Tonight" is a fun song and the MV reminds me a little bit of American R&B singer Cassie with her song "Me & U". Further there are a few slow songs that are highy recommended to listen to! You will love them ^_^ my favourite ballad is track 3 on the album. It sounds so dreamy and CoCo is really hitting the high notes in this song. My favourites are track 7, track 8 (I really like it when she sings the "Oops! Baby..." parts in this song. Very catchy song!) and off course track 3! To conclude, this album is really promising and will probably do well in the charts, it also has many influences from American R&B and Hip Hop music. I give this album a 10/10, because the whole package is worth 10/10 and I like all the songs! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Happy Girl (CD+DVD)

August 28, 2006 Kelly Chen - Happy GirlFinally Kelly's new Cantonese album, after her latest Mandarin album "Eternal Sunshine" (when I first met Kelly's music) I was so impressed by her singing abilities and her amazing ballads, that I was checking once in a while if she was going to release a new album soon. And finally it's here, "Happy Girl"! If you're expecting an album full with up-tempo songs, you're wrong. There are only three up-tempo songs on this release, the rest is full with lovely ballads. Just as "Eternal Sunshine" she begins the album with a VERY GOOD(!!) up-tempo song, something I never heard before. It has a good beat in it and is very catchy, you will love it. Since I can't understand any Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin), is it difficult for me to say what the lyrics are all about, but all the ballads sounds amazing and very touching only the way Kelly can sing them! The other two up-tempo songs are track 6 and track 11. Track 6 is a nice song and track 11 sounds more like a dance/trance song. You rather like it or not. I listen to that song a few times and I learned to accept it. It's a nice change on the album. The DVD that comes with this album consists of some music videos and is a nice extra just as the 64-page booklet. On the other hand, the cover for this album looks not that "Happy" at all, Kelly should made a little more fun and could haved laugh or something like that, but on the other hand, it's a very beautiful picture. My personal favourites on this album are track 1 and track 8. They sound very powerfull and will stuck in your head. Overall, Kelly proves once again that she is the queen of Mandarin music just as Cantonese music and this release is not something you want to miss! Did you find this review helpful? August 27, 2006 BoA - Key Of Heart / DotchAfter "Outgrow" I think BoA realised that the twist she made was a little more of a good thing and was going back to basic to the J-Pop she used to made, good and fun J-pop, but now with a little more mature sound on it. After BoA's latest single "Nanairo no Ashita ~Brand New Beat~/Your Color", she brings us a new up-tempo song "Key Of Heart" which is really a feel good song. I really like BoA when she sings up-tempo songs, it gives me a good mood. The B-side is also another up-tempo song and is more music to dance too. The first pressing will include the English version of "Key Of Heart" on the CD and the DVD will contain the "Key Of Heart Road Movie". If you couldn't get a copy of the first pressing, don't be sad and buy the Hong Kong (Overseas) version which will also contain the same songs and extra's but you must need a Region 3 or region free DVD-player. Anyway. I really like this single and looking forward to BoA's next single release on October 25, 2006! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

August 27, 2006 Aria - AriaYes, finally Aria's debut album (or third album if you count the other two when her stage name was Asuka). Anyway, I was waiting a long time for this release and I must say, she didn't disappointed me at all. I really like all the songs on this album, from the more up-tempo to the slow songs. Her voice is very soul-full and nice to listen to. If you like R&B than this is something you definitely might like. You should give it a try! My favourites are "Is This Love?", "Slow Jam featuring Dohzi-T", "Nasty Or Classy featuring Twigy", "Bye Bye Bye", "Don't You" & "Tokyo", only a few to mention. ^_^ The DVD will contain all her promotion videos "Beautiful Life", "Is This Love?" & "Slow Jam featuring Dohzi-T". There is also another PV that they made for the release of this album "Don't You" included on the DVD, but it's not that stunning as her previous PV's, it looks a little bit cheap, but it's a good song, you will get over the PV. To conclude, forget about the old Asuka and welcome Aria, because this album is REALLY GOOD! If you don't like (J-)R&B than this is nothing for you, but if you do... give it a try, she will not disappoint you! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
August 25, 2006 Yuna Ito - Losin'
I pre-ordered this item about a month ago with Yuna Ito's other collectible single "Stuck On You" without knowing if this song was any good. But after seeing the PV for "Losin'" I was sold. Yuna can do it all, from her amazing ballads to her up-tempo songs! I must say that I like "Stuck On You", but I LOVE "Losin'", it's a more serious and mature song, but still a good song to dance at. The B-side from this single is another up-tempo song and is also very catchy and there will be a remix of "Losin'". If you would like to hear some samples from this single you can find them on her official website. I know there will be another single in late 2006 for the movie NaNa 2, which is the sequel of NaNa in 2005. Yuna will be once again named "REIRA starring YUNA ITO" and the song will be the theme song for the sequel. So Yuna fans, save some money for her next release!! I'm also curious if Yuna will be releasing a full album soon? Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Hit Me (CD+VCD)
August 7, 2006 Jill Vidal - Hit MeWhat more is left to say about this album. There are a lot of people who like this album and some do not. Either way, I really like this album just because it's something you don't hear everyday. If you expect nice ballads and songs with traditional chinese instruments, than this is nothing for you. But if you like fast-paced music with a lot of R&B influences than this is something you might like. It even has some reggaeton influences in track 2 "Mon Saturday". I admit the lyrics in some songs are a little bit silly, but I can laugh about it. Jill is an artist that you don't must take to seriously. I really enjoyed all songs except track 11, "Axel F" which is a cover from the Crazy Frog Song. It's really annoying. Further there are two more covers on this album, "Lonely" which was a song from Nana Abrokwa, but with some lyrics changes and some parts are sung in Cantonese. The last cover on the album is "Wordy Rappinghood" which was a song from new wave band Tom Tom Club, the song is also covered by the (girl)group Chicks On Speed. Overall, the songs are fun but nothing more. It's good for a debut album, but I hope Jill will pay attention to her fans and hopefully listen to what they got to say, because there are a lot of people who aren't satisfied about this album, but don't expect she's going to be more alike her big sister Janice, because they are two different people with two different music styles. August 3, 2006 Koda Kumi - Live Tour 2005Perfect chance if you couldn't get a copy from the "Best ~Second Session~ (Limited Edition)" which included this concert. The whole concert on disc one is exactly the same as on the "Best ~Second Session~ (Limited Edition)" but this time you can put audio commentery on or off from Kumi, her staff and dancers. There is also a second disc which is more interesting for the people who already got a copy from "Best ~Second Session~ (Limited Edition)". It includes a making of "Live Tour 2005 ~First Things~", the release party of "Best ~Second Session~" and this "First Press Limited Edition" will also come in a special case and a 12 page booklet! The second disc will be approx 60 minutes. It looks like Avex Trax is trying to get more money from Kumi's fans but I don't think that way, because you can consider the second disc more like new material and the concert as a bonus. Either way, this concert is still pretty good and even better than her previous "Secret First Class Limited Live" concert. You should definitely give it a try even if you already got "Best ~Second Session~ (Limited Edition)", because disc two will make it all up to you, it even has a good price and it is cheaper than the normal edition, so get it now before it's 'Out Of Print'! August 1, 2006 Yuna Ito - Stuck On YouNew Yuna Ito (4th) single "Stuck On You" is the first single of her two months campaign and represents a "hot" summer song, it's also her first up-tempo song since her debut single "Endless Story". "Stuck On You" sounds very refreshing and new. On the B-side you can find a Nancy Sinatra cover "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" which is used for Daihatsu's CM to promote their new car called the COO. Yuna will be releasing the second single (5th) "Losin'" of her two months campaign on September 6, 2006 which represents a "cool" autumn song. Pre-order/Buy this single now before it's 'Out Of Print', both singles are Limited Edition and each will be available for 70,000 units! I've heard if you buy them both you will receive a special invitation to Yuna Ito's first tour, an invitation-only tour called "YUNA ITO 1st Invitation" (but I'm not sure). By the way, on several websites they are already 'Out Of Print'... Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

August 1, 2006 Jolin Tsai - Dancing... Vers.2In my last review for "Dancing Diva (Taiwan Preorder Edition)" I was waiting for the 2nd version to come out, and finally here it is! I got my copy last week and I watched the DVD immediately, I was surprised that all the songs that are on the album are all worked out as MV's on the DVD instead of some MV's and some live performances, that's a good point. Further the quality of the DVD is good and the MV's are sharp. Maybe it's interesting to know that this version comes with the "Date with Budapest" photobook, because some of you will already have the "Close Up" photobook. The only minus of this version is the cover artwork. It's the same version just as every other but with an extra jacket on it (which includes the DVD), but it's not glued or fixed together. Overall, if you don't have Jolin's new album yet, here is the change to get it with the full CD+DVD and the photobook "Date with Budapest"! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

The songs they put on the album are good I think personally, I especially like the songs "In Da Club", "Attention" and the "Attention Remix". I know there was a big media-hype about the foursome about being boys in the past (now four beautiful women), they appeared on several websites, newspapers and even on TV, but asking us to pay US$19.99 for just a few songs, some remixes and two instrumental songs is even for me a lot of money! Maybe I'm going to buy it in the future if the price will reduce, but for now I think only die hard fans are going to buy this album from the transsexual girlband, this album is definitely not worth 10/10, so I gave it a 6/10 for the few songs which are good! God Sista (Japan Version)
July 31, 2006 Lisa - God SistaLooking for really hardcore R&B? Look no further, this is something you definitely might like! The album is filled with al kind of R&B, from dance able to nice ballads and even a reggaeton remix for "I, Rhythm". But my favourites are still "It's On", "God Sista", "Bootylectric", "I Promise" (which was also a track on her "Juicy" album) and the "Switch featuring Koda Kumi & Heartsdales (DJ Watarai Remix)". I really like to play this albm in the car or at a party. The coverart is really sexy. I had no idea she had it in her, I like it. But I don't hope she did it for selling more albums, because she is a good artist with a unique voice that you don't hear very often. Overall, this album is pretty good if you like R&B, if not, you can better forget about this album. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

July 31, 2006 Sowelu - 24 -twenty four-What else is there to say about Sowelu. She is an amazing artist with a lot of talent. This album proves again that she has grown the last few years as a J-Pop artist. "24 -twenty four-" is Sowelu's best album yet to date, and I think I'm not the only one who thinks that, just because the fact that this album is Sowelu's highest ranking yet. She debuted at #3 in the Oricon charts. I really like the songs that she put on this album, but there is one thing that is bothering me, I was wondering why the single "Get Over" isn't included on the album? July 30, 2006 Natori Kaori - PerfumeWhen I first listen to Natori Kaori's debut album I was surprised it has such a varity of songs on it, it has some influences from Pop, Dance and mostly R&B. But I think it is good to have such big varity on an album to keep people interested in the music that you make. My favourite tracks are "Lovespace", "Goodbye featuring Nao'ymt" and the ballad "At Your Side" (track 5). I even like the interludes, they are nice to listen to. If you're thinking about buying this album, it is worth giving it a try, maybe you will love it, but don't expect the best album you have ever heard, personally I think the album is good but not worth 10/10, that's why I gave it a 8/10. But keep in mind that she is a rising star! For samples go to Natori Kaori's official website and watch out for Natori's next single release "Stay", out on August, 30!
