Detroit Metal City - Mao Seitan Ban (Animation) (DVD) (Limited Edition) (Japan Version) DVD Region 2

Wakasugi Kiminori's comedic manga Detroit Metal City is getting both an anime series and a film this summer. While Matsuyama Kenichi (Death Note) is busy shooting the big screen adaptation, Studio 4C - the animation house behind Tekkon Kinkreet, Memories, and Genius Party - is producing the highly anticipated OVA which will be released in August around the same time as the film. If August can't come soon enough, fans can get a sneak preview with this Limited Edition teaser DVD containing two episodes, hitting shelves a good month before the film and anime. This DVD also comes with special footage from the live-action film.

Chockful of winking humor, straight-faced parodies, and thrashing music, Detroit Metal City follows the unlikely evolution of shy guy Soichi who moves from the countryside to Tokyo for college. His dream is to become a kindergarten teacher, but somehow he ends up the lead singer of the death metal band Detroit Metal City. Quiet and mild-mannered by day, Soichi turns loud and vulgar by night when his alter-ego "Johannes Krauser II" takes stage in goth face paint. Leading a strange double life, Soichi and band climb the ladders of the J-rock indie scene. Ueda Yuji voices main character Soichi. The film's stars Matsuyama Kenichi and Kato Rosa will also lend their voices to the anime series in other roles.

白泉社刊「ヤングアニマル」に連載された若杉公徳の原作による人気コミック「デトロイト･メタル･シティ」がOVAとなって登場！あまりの過激な表現で映像化不可能とも言われた作品を、「鉄コン筋クリート」「アニマトリクス」のSTUDIO 4℃がアニメ化。監督は「蟲師」の長濱博史が監督を務め、原作コミックの1～2巻に収められた24話分をアニメ化している。原作の過激なテイストをそのままアニメ化した、限界ギリギリのノンストップ・ギャグ・アニメとなっている。
本作は、アニメ1話分2エピソードを収録したお試し版DVD。加えて、2008年8月公開の実写映画の映像も特典として収めた、"試し読み"DVDである。
根岸崇一は、お洒落なポップスが好きな童貞青年。音楽の道を志して上京した彼は、レコード会社との契約をかわすが、そこで自分の趣味とは正反対なデスメタルを歌わされることに。悪魔のメイクと衣装でデトロイト・メタル・シティのギター＆ボーカル、ヨハネ・クラウザー2世としてインディーズ・デビューさせられてしまった彼は、その本心とは裏腹に、過激な歌詞とパフォーマンスで大ブレイク。インディーズ・シーンを席巻してゆく…。
