Getting into the trade at the age of 14, Hung Hsien Nu has performed in many famous titles of Cantonese Opera, and she is particularly fond of the 1948 film she co-starred with her husband Ma Ci Tsang, which has a good story as well as good values in that it advocates harmony between people and nations. In 2004, she began to work as producer, director, and lead vocal artist for this animated version, the first of its kind in the world. Combining traditional Cantonese Opera with modern animation filmmaking, this adaptation retells the classic tale of the romance between an unruly princess and an upright general, and deservedly won accolades at the Chinese film Huabiao Awards.
