An Excellent Film Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Koji Yakusho ('Shall We Dance') is Koheita, a Samurai sent to clean up a corrupt, crime-ridden town. His three predecessors have mysteriously disappeared. Given the position of the town magistrate, Koheita cultivates a reputation for being lax and corrupt himself to lure the bad guys and eliminate them all in the end.

Very well thought out, overall, a brilliant film.

 This is why I love movies! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Scripted by four superstars of Japanese cinema and helmed by the great director Kon Ichikawa, "Dora-Heita" enthralls from start to finish.

Yakusho Koji stars as a samurai sent to clean house in a town rife with corruption. I was accustomed to see Yakusho Koji in contemporary roles, such as his brilliant performances in "Shall We Dance?", "Kamikaze Taxi", and "Warm Water Under a Red Bridge". But he shines here in this period role, as the magistrate who befuddles the local leaders by acting as a dissolute fool.

"Dora-Heita" has it all: action, suspense, intrigue, drama, and some wonderful, surprising comedy. This is great entertainment and I recommend it very highly for a general audience.

This is not a review of this film.

I have just read the last review of this film. Please ignore other review. That was not a review. I am very glad that YesAsia sells Japanese movies with subtitles to an english speaking audience. It is not up to YesAsia to review movies. These reviews are written by enthisiastic movie watchers, who decide that they want to write a review about a film they have seen. They may like or dislike the movie. I have written some reviews about movies I have seen... some good, some okay.

If you see a movie without a review, then dont complain about it like the other reviewer of this movie. Why not 'cut and paste' the name of the movie into the best movie review website (www.imdb.com), and read about the movie there.

If you decide to purchase the movie, and you then watch the movie, ONLY THEN should you write a review.

I would just like to thank YesAsia for making Japanese DVDs available to purchase. If I dislike a movie after buying it, then that is my problem, and my choice.

Where are the english reviews for an English subtiltled film?The problem is that I am nor will not purchase a video unless I know what it is about. You can't sell an unknown product.
