Director Gu Yun's 90-minute documentary provides a fascinating and affecting vision of China from different perspectives in the seven years leading up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Touching on different lives affected by the Olympics, the film is divided into five stories about the construction of Beijing's main Olympics venue, the Bird's Nest; the training of a group of gymnasts; the preparations of a team of security guards; the life of a normal Beijing family; and the life of superstar hurdler Liu Xiang who became the hope and pride of the nation when he won China's first track and field gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics. This DVD release of Zhu Meng 2008 is subtitled in eight languages including English.
