When rookie reporter Josh Pollack (Justin Timberlake) overhears a puzzling exchange between an accused murderer and arresting officer Rat Deed (LL Cool J), he begins to conduct his own investigation. What he finds is a lawless corps of police officers who confiscate dirty money and split it between the most powerful men in the city. And now only Deed, a conscience-stricken cop torn between honor and duty, can put an end to the corruption that infests the city of Edison.
