Based on the famous Italian novel Cuore by Edmondo De Amicis , Education of Love pays tribute to all elementary school teachers who quietly devote themselves to the financially-unrewarding task of educating the children of today to become upright citizens of tomorrow. Jeanette Lin Cui, fondly nicknamed the "Student Darling" by her fans, plays a young woman who replaces her bedridden father as an elementary school teacher. At first she abhors both teaching and children, but manages to change her mind when she learns more about the story of her students and how much her father has devoted to his career, which causes her ultimately to follow in her father's footsteps. Watch out for a skinny Sammo Hung, who plays a shy and quiet kid in a single-parent family under the name of Zhu Yuanlong.

6-stars I am giving this movie
| I bought this DVD for my daughter to bring to school as a gift for her teacher on TEACHER'S DAY. I think all teachers should watch this movie; I'm sure the reason why they chose teaching as a profession will become clearer. Also, Wang Yin (Lin Cui's father) is such a great actor and seems to fit in almost any role he is given. I have watched this movie numerous times and every time, I cry like mad! |

Excellent Movie
| This is indeed an excellent movie with good story and good moral. All schools should be showing this classic to their students.I just love Lin Cui and think she's superb and wonderful in this movie. Get your DVD today. |

Jeanette Lin Cui Shines in tribute to teachers

EDUCATION OF LOVE was that rare film that Cathay Studio "dare" to made with probably no expectations of great box office receipts other than to seriously showcasing popular star Jeanette Lin Cui's acting range. Well loved and adored by her fans for her always peppy and lively portrayals of ingenues, Jeanette really "stretches" her acting chops in this earnest effort to give tribute to all teachers in all civilized societies where their noble efforts usually goes unrewarded. One can see many similar incidents in real life and if you have been poor or have been taught by an impoverished teacher, this film will evoke many bittersweet memories, traces of Ozu, Truffaut, McCarey, surfaces now and then in this well made film. Cheers for Jeanette Lin Cui for giving a great performance and triple cheers for Cathay for making this film. |
