Not much Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
That is right, i find this film to be over-rated. I kinda find this movie boring. There is not thrill compared to the other To movies i have seen before.

Taut, seamless Triad thriller Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
The genius of "Election" is the discipline with which the filmmakers maintained the essential simplicity of their story. The film is about a battle between Lok (Simon Yam) and Big D (Tony Leung Ka Fai) for succession to the chairmanship of a Hong Kong Triad. The movie doesn't get distracted with unnecessary subplots or background stories; it focusses like a laser on this confrontation.

Director Johnnie To brings his tale to life with such realism that one can almost smell the smells of the film's settings. He has peopled the film with a cast of truly great actors; what a pleasure to see a film that isn't cluttered with the latest pretty pop stars, but instead features mature actors who have earned their chops through years of experience.

The film's story moves swiftly when it needs to, then slows down to detail the inner workings and lore of Triad society when appropriate. It sets the stakes very high in the succession battle, then keeps upping the ante. The brutal culmination is captured perfectly in the look of stunned horror on the face of Lok's son.

"Election" is recommended very, very highly. It ranks among the all-time gangster film greats.

Over-rated triad film Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
I thought this film was way over-rated. In comparison to Yong and Dangerous, this film has no chance in competing. Tony Leung as a traid leader? What a joke. Election is more of an introduction that leads onto part two which I feel is going to much better. This film is more about two traid leaders competing against each other. If you going to purchase this film I reccomend waiting fot part 2 and then watch them both together because like I said before this is more of an introduction to the Election series.

Was the violence really necessary??? Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Hmmm... a guy gets bashed in the head for a minute, I mean was that necessary it was just soo disturbing. If the violence is lessened it be even better.
