Even if you have countless Frances Yip compilations like me, you should still get this double CD set. The reason lies in the DSD remastering. Every song sounds better here than in the previous compilation CDs. There is one rare song never released before on CD and that's the last song on Disc 2. It's a Malay song that Frances has borrowed from Malaysia. The miracle of Frances's talent is that she can somehow even make a Malay song sound more magnificent in Cantonese. But that's the wonder of Frances's voice. It can be tender and sensitive but many times, it is a magnificent voice - proud and soaring. Her range is wide and she can sing anything you throw at her. I wish Warner Music will remaster & release her individual EMI albums. With compilations like this one, no matter how good, some tracks remain buried in the vault. We, her fans, would like ALL her albums on CD. |
