Anthony Lau returns as Chien Lung in Emperor Chien Lung and the Beauty, the fourth in director Li Han Hsiang's series of light-hearted adventures about the dashing and handsome Ching Dynasty Emperor. A benevolent and kind Emperor, Chien Lung sometimes goes incognito and mixes with the common folk to understand the wants and needs of his subjects. This time out, Chien Lung's adventures leads him to Suzhou, where he meets the beautiful courtesan Miss San (Pan Ping Chang), and endeavors to spend as much time in her charming company as he possibly can. But Chien Lung has other duties to attend to, including procuring a new recipe for the Imperial kitchen, and striving to rebuild a large portion of Suzhou that has been damaged by an earthquake. To achieve that goal, Chien Lung turns to gambling, and meets the comely, high-kicking Li Pao (Wai Ying Hung), who tears her way through casino goons like a true kung-fu princess! The Emperor also gets arrested and nearly beheaded! But he's the Emperor, so no worries! It's just another day of adventuring for the roguish and eminently charming swashbuckler, Emperor Chien Lung!
