Romcom queen Sammi Cheng lights romantic sparks with Taiwan actor Joseph Chang (Sky on Fire) in Love Contractually, which opened in China on Valentine's Day. Co-starring Lam Suet as Sammi's father and singer Xian Zi and Terence Yin as the exes, the charming romantic comedy marks the feature debut of experienced TV and commercial director Liu Guonan, who assisted on Zhang Yimou's Hero and Curse of the Golden Flower.

Cold and chic insurance company CEO Katrina (Sammi Cheng) has crafted an immensely successful career, but her love life leaves much to be desired. After parting ways with her cheating fiancé, she gives up on love and decides to have a child on her own. To find the right sperm donor, she posts a high-paying personal assistant job and puts the applicants through a tedious vetting process. Unexpectedly, she finds an assistant – and the potential father of her future child – in courier Bo (Joseph Chang). The two couldn't be more different, but love may be on the agenda when they agree to sign a contract with each other.

  • Midnight Diner 2 (2016) (Blu-ray) (English Subtitled) (Hong Kong Version) Blu-ray Region A Kobayashi Kaoru | Tabe Mikako | Odagiri Joe | Sato Koichi
The Midnight Diner is open for business again in the acclaimed franchise's second feature film. Based on Abe Yaro's manga Shinya Shokudo, the slice-of-life series Midnight Diner revolves around a late-night Shinjuku alleyway restaurant run by the wise and enigmatic Master (Kobayashi Kaoru). Every day from midnight to 7 a.m., the diner becomes the watering hole for regulars of all walks, from stoic gangsters to chatty office ladies. There's only one item on the menu, but as long as he can, Master will make anything asked and provide a sympathetic ear and sage advice to all the night owls who come through his door in search of food and conversation.

Alongside the airing of the fourth season Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories in 2016, the series also released its second silver-screen feature, again directed by Matsuoka Joji. Keeping with the heartwarming episodic formula of small human stories, Midnight Diner 2 welcomes back regulars like Odagiri Joe, Matsushige Yutaka, Mitsuishi Ken and Yo Kimiko, and adds new diners with stories to share. Tabe Mikako, reprising her role from the first film, takes in an elderly woman (Watanabe Misako) who was conned into coming to Tokyo and is looking for her estranged son. Kawai Aoba plays a stressed editor who falls for a man (Sato Koichi) she meets at a funeral, but he may not be what he seems. Ikematsu Sosuke plays a soba shop owner's son whose aimless personality and relationship with an older woman (Kojima Hijiri) greatly worry his mother.

Three years after his English-language debut Stoker, award-winning filmmaker Park Chan Wook returns to Korean cinemas with the highly acclaimed erotic thriller The Handmaiden, which earned him his third Palme d'Or nomination at the Cannes Film Festival following Old Boy and Thirst. Starring Kim Min Hee (Right Now, Wrong Then) as a wealthy Japanese heiress, breakout newcomer Kim Tae Ri as a maid, Ha Jung Woo (Assassination) as a fake count and Jo Jin Woong (A Hard Day) as the heiress's uncle, the film is an adaptation of Welsh author Sarah Waters's notable lesbian crime novel Fingersmith about the love between a rich heiress and her maid.

In 1930s Korea, Lady Hideko (Kim Min Hee), the sole heiress to her family fortune, lives with her uncle (Jo Jin Woong) in a luxurious mansion. In an attempt to seize the heiress's wealth, a swindler (Ha Jung Woo) poses as Count Fujiwara and hires pickpocket Sook Hee (Kim Tae Ri) to become her maid. Though Sook Hee is given the mission to convince Lady Hideko to marry Count Fujiwara, she finds herself sexually attracted to her new mistress.
