Nothing but pure brilliance
This CD arrived today! I was so glad when it came. I first heard Yae when Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles came out, and I fell immediately in love with the opening and ending themes. So I ordered this CD! :P
And I was right in my decision. This is the best album I've heard as of yet in 2004. The album is simplistic, but this is the key. The tracks focus mainly on acoustic guitar, flutes, xylophone-esque sounds and vocals, of course! Yae's voice is so strong and pure and it is the driving force of the tracks. The tracks have good length (each around 4:30) and are thoroughly enjoyable. I think the best track is undoubtedly "Namonaki Kimi e". It manipulates the sounds of the acoustic guitar in an interesting way, and the chorus gets caught in my head and doesn't go away!!! The only thing that was a little dissapointing was the fact that the crystal chronicles op/ed songs are different versions -- called "the arranged versions". They focus more on synthetic/harder sounds rather than authentic instruments. The result is a more modern sound, but it didn't seem to plase me as much as the originals. But, don't let that lead you astray, they are both still brilliant.
Overall, this is an album worth your money and then some. Yae deserves much more exposure than she gets! I can't wait to order some of her other CDs!
