Fly to the Sky Vol. 8 - Decennium

Marking the 10th anniversary of their remarkable career, Fly to the Sky releases their 8th album appropriately entitled Decennium. As always, the boys do what they do best – offering the best of both worlds in musical artistry and mainstream trends. But this time, they boldly take one step further to present an album distinctively different from their usual style, thanks largely to many colorful contributors like Dynamic Duo and Gary of LeeSsang who pitched in their hip-hop flair for tracks like Close to you (Track 3) and Jeul geo chat gi ("Hiding Game" – Track 7) respectively. Other participants in the album include Brown Eyed Soul and Wanted.

Renowned composer Cho Young Soo collaborates with Fly to the Sky for the first time in the album's principle track Goo sok ("Possessiveness" – Track 2), a jazzy R&B ballad. Backed by string instrumentation, the song is highlighted by the enchanting harmony of Brian and Fany's vocals.

This edition comes with a folded poster.

플라이 투 더 스카이 정규 8집 “Decennium”

데뷔 10주년이라는 거창한 타이틀이 아니더라도 플라이 투 더 스카이 라는 이름만으로도 대중을 설레게 하는 두 남자의 8번째 앨범이 드디어 발매된다. 플라이 투 더 스카이의 8번째 앨범은 대중적이지만 식상하지 않고, 새롭지만 어색하지 않은 노래들로 채워져 있다.

유난히 새로운 시도가 눈에 띄는 이번 앨범에는 그간 작업을 함께 해보지 않았던 새로운 인물들과의 만남으로 혹은 새롭게 변화된 음악 스타일을 시도하는 느낌의 곡들이 많다. 의외의 인물인 작곡가 조영수와 함께한 타이틀곡 “구속” 외에도 다이나믹 듀오 와 리쌍의 ‘게리’가 피쳐링으로 참여한 “Close to you”와 “즐겨 찾기”는 그간의 플라이 투 더 스카이의 모습에서 찾아보기 힘든 스타일의 곡으로 대중적인 멜로디에 힙합댄스를 가미한 곡들이다. 뿐만 아니라 브라운 아이드 소울, 원티드 등 가창력과 음악성으로 인정 받고 있는 그룹의 멤버들과 함께 작업 하며 새로운 색을 함께 만들어내는 작업에도 게을리 하지 않았다.

유명 작곡가 조영수와 플라이 투 더 스카이의 첫 작품인 타이틀 곡 “구속”은 Jazzy 한 멜로디와 곡 분위기에 얹어낸 R&B 발라드 곡으로 고음과 저음, 진성과 가성을 넘나드는 두 사람의 보컬과 현의 웅장함이 어울린 색다른 느낌의 곡이다. 특히 단순하지 않은 멜로디 라인을 가지고 있음에도 묘한 중독성을 자극하며 귓가에 맴도는 멜로디가 일품인 곡이다. 플라이 투 더 스카이가 아니라면 소화하기 힘들었을 곡 중 하나로 매 앨범 뿜어냈던 브라이언과 환희의 목소리가 절묘하게 어울려 서정성을 떠나 비장함 마저 느끼게 하는 매력을 가진 곡이다.
