Abandoned as a young girl, Seo Hee (Kim Hee Sun) grows up in an orphanage with childhood sweetheart Se Joon (Ryu Si Won), the son of the orphanage director. Se Joon's mother strongly disapproves of their relationship, and tries to break them apart. In the end, Se Joon chooses love over family. He pays a deep toll in his efforts to support and protect Seo Hee, but it's all worth it as long as they can be together. The more he does, however, the more Seo Hee feels that she is a burden to him. When she tries to turn away from his love, greater tragedies await.
