　　天上三吉星，人間福祿壽，天界之中，福星、祿星、壽星三仙享盡人間煙火，賜福民間良善，好不快哉。適逢王母壽辰，三仙以擒獲瘟神所飼養的作惡人間的年獸為壽禮，王母娘娘對此善舉倍加讚賞；三仙飄然自傲，無意間得罪了眾神。
　　玉帝安排民間喜慶新年，三仙由此更受百姓愛戴；人間為其蓋富麗堂皇的三星廟。在三星廟中，三仙對男女信徒有求必應，繼而違反天條給妖精賜福被提揭發。眾神參本，玉帝震怒，廢去三人法力，貶為凡人，並懲戒福星為永世無福之人、壽星要永世受病折磨、祿星注一永世仕途不順。仙班將三星除名，人間從此失去三大吉星光輝，遍地三災六難，瘟神更想雪恥。
　　陰差陽錯間，三仙在一間破敗的三星廟裡一起投胎，取名為吳福氣、梅壽全、魏得祿。三人從小結成好友，受盡磨難，好在張果老派麻姑下凡化身捕快麻如意暗中相助。三仙托胎凡世，增加了七情六欲；魏得祿與瑞寧公主互生情愫，梅壽全愛上的竟是麻姑化身的麻如意，吳福氣卻與漁家女雙喜一見鐘情……
　　三星命苦，終於等來了玉帝意旨：只要三星修行向善，感化瘟神，做到“福如東海、壽比南山”，即可重返仙庭。
　　感化仇家，這難比登天。為賜福人間，三星決定行善重返仙界，可那凡間情緣又如何了斷？
