One of the classics of nineties Hong Kong Cinema, the action drama Full Throttle stars Andy Lau as a motorcycle racer who tears up the streets of Hong Kong. Despite the worries of his girlfriend (Gigi Leung in her film debut), he can't walk away from the game, and it's only a matter of time before the dangerous life of illegal street racing takes its toll. Himself an amateur motorcar racer, writer-director Derek Yee (Shinjuku Incident) balances commercial filmmaking with well-written characters and great visuals for an entertaining time at the movies. Full Throttle received 10 nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor.
