January 10, 2006 bad for a Tsui Hark movie Customer Review Rated Bad 3 - 3 out of 10
For a movie that come from Tsui Hark, this is a BAD movie. make no mistake, Tsui has always been my top director from HK, his movies were focus n have always shown inspiration( especailly OnceuponatimeinCN/Lovers/Blade ). This movie just doesnt cut it, Bad naration, wrong focus ( or none, his plot tried to cover everybody's role but badly as it turned out, not single one of 'em really work out, none gets my interest). On top of those mistakes, trhe main fault(s) for me r two things... poor fight sequences ( the last fight WASNT nearly as good, if by comparing to something like Jackie's DrunkenII, DonnieVSJet in OnceInCNII; lil nearly no creative input, everything either u have seen somewhere else and they can be done on tv standard), and secondly.. n very sadly,.. the irritative poor music score ( unrealisticly, i wanted to see James Wong come back alive to do score for this movie, they NEEDED him, that NA music composer SUKKKKKS, he doesnt undesrtand chit about asian drama n his hollywood routine dumbass cartoon track kept losing me on those fight scenes ** ). The plot; .. Seven Sword is a bad story, period. I just DON"T see much in here, a dumb noob bad guy brought back seven guys from a mountain, n his too dumb to figure out he cant fight seven at the same time, hes apperently outpowered by DOnnie at the beginning, we all knew but hes so confidnet to take 'em all at once i thought he had secret weapon yet to shown i was awaiting for that, but that was it he just went ahead n get defeated??!! what a dumb noob...
what happens to HK movies these days, Zhang Yi Mou's movies r ANTI-ACTIONs, Tsui's losing his focus, n Ang Lee's making WESTERN.. what a pitty.

September 14, 2004 simply listen to us all give it 5 stars and buy it Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
just listen to us all reviewers giving this movie 5 stars in here and buy this movie, you wont forget it afterward for quite a while. Its a wonderful story about 2 were never allowed to be together but truly love each other with all part of them. Very and i mean very tragic ending and the music and all just get it right there to fill all teh impression the movie is trying to make. This is the best movie ever made by Tsui Hark as sitting director.

September 14, 2004 violence in excellence Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This is really a under rated movie, i think. The shaky camera shots somehow would bother some people, but there r quite a few scenes are incredibly remarkable. That scene where the one armed man learning techinques from a half burned martial art booklet was simply inspiring. The director used a pretty intelligentual way to show u how it can practically done ( well... its just quite smart, not u can actually spin your body like he did in the movie). I love this movie

September 14, 2004 dun know why it shined Customer Review Rated Bad 3 - 3 out of 10
a typical kung fu movie in ex-traditional style, nothing like those 'once upon in china' series, every move looked a bit slower than the movies nowaday. And I also found my complain in all these fights looks more pretensing, they look more like exercising than really killing eaching other. sorry to say that to a popular classic.

January 22, 2004 best movie from Andy Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
My personal favorite amoung all Andy Lau's movies, although it was produced 12+ years ago, it somewhat look even better than some very recent movies like "internal affairs" trilogy, yes, the gambling tricks had been worn out by decades, but if you look past that(btw they did a good job making some of those tricks make sense), the overall look of the movie is really impressive, in fact, I love this one even better than the first one, there is something about Andy's theme song fits just right for the atmosphere of the movie, it's a must buy if you are an Andy Lau fan
