Kencho no Hoshi Special Edition (First Press Limited Edition) (Japan Version)
Kencho no Hoshi Special Edition (First Press Limited Edition) (Japan Version) DVD Region 2
(1)Our Price: US$70.99Usually ships within 7 - 14 daysAugust 2, 2007 Kencho no Hoshi(Star Reformer)This has to be one of my favourite Japanese movies of 2006!
Nomura (Oda Yuji) is a career-driven, arrogant bureaucrat, who follows the rules to the letter. A Star in the Prefectural Government! In an effort to quell the dissatisfaction of the citizens over a costly building project, Nomura and six others candidates are chosen to understand the "know-how" of the citizens. He finds himself in the retail industry at a supermarket under the coaching of a part-time employee Ninamiya (Shibasaki Kou) and begins to learn a few important life lessons that aren't found in any rule book or manual. It's a wonderful human story for the whole family. Oda and Shibasaki have a wonderful chemistry in the film.
The Special Edition does NOT contain English subtitles, but does have loads of extras for the die-hard movie collectors. The Hong Kong version, known as STAR REFORMER does contain both English and Chinese subtitles and is definately worth picking up.

June 17, 2006 ALWAYS worth watching. This is a really great film, definately deserving of the many awards it has earned.
In the shadow of a Tokyo Tower still under construction, ALWAYS is a touching tale about the residents of Third Street in the late 1950's. As the movie progresses, Yamazaki Takashi does an excellent job of drawning you into the community as you meet and get to know the denizens of this little corner of Tokyo.
While the movie is filled with CG effects, they are mainly used to to give each scene atmosphere and help to give you a sense of actually being a part of the community during that era. The acting is very strong, with notable performances by Horikita Maki and the younger actors Suga Kenta and Koshimizu Masaya. Worth watching again and again.
The Deluxe Edition comes loaded with goodies, including a second disc with almost 3 hours of Special Features as well as book about the film. Knowledge of Japanese is highly recommended for the additional content.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

I loved Yoon Soy in the role of Soha, always so calm, cool and collected, even in the face of danger. She epitomizes grace, class and beauty.
The Limited Edition contains great extras like deleted scenes, documentaries, trailers and even the soundtrack. Definately worth checking adding to your collection.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

(9)Our Price: US$125.25Usually ships within 7 - 14 daysMay 12, 2006 A Cut Above the RestI was amazed. I don't really know what I was expecting when I watched the film, a Ninja Romeo & Juliet I guess, but this movie has far more depth to it. This is a real classy movie with beautiful settings and excellent special effects. Based on the Anime - Basilisk, the actors and actresses give notable performances as thier respective characters. If you like "House of Flying Daggers" and "Hero" (both of which I love) it will definately appeal.
The Premium Edition is easily worth the price tag if you are a movie collector, though an understanding of Japanese is recommended for the extra content.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
