高凌風（秦祥林飾），是一位自視很高的大學森林系學生，在眾女生中，終於發現有著黑眼珠，美麗而有靈氣的女孩小禪（林青霞飾）。一身傲骨的高凌風發覺自己向戀愛挑戰，在興奮中，又帶緊張。愛情攻勢一發，高凌風警覺另一位品學兼優又風度翩翩的高材生何懷祖（石峰飾），也在追求小禪，為了這位有靈氣的「女朋友」和強敵，高凌風陷入了痛苦與自怨自艾中。
高凌風與何祖懷展開了一連串的競爭，儘管好友克偉（江杉飾）給他許多鬼主意，可是都敗在懷祖的手下，但他並無氣餒，終於在一次音樂會中，他展露了自己歌唱的才華，打動了小禪的芳心。但小禪最終聽候了父母的主張，隨懷祖赴美。
受愛情及畢業後失業痛苦的高凌風，恨透小禪。他不肯放棄在夜總會唱自己所愛的歌，不取分文地唱，惹惱了經理，惹惱了客人，也惹惱了自己。在演唱生涯中，有位「女聽客」雅萍（蕭芳芳飾）忠實聽他的演唱，並且全心全意幫助他，後來更漸漸愛上了他。然而在他心裡，卻收容不了另一位女朋友，他雖然恨透懷祖和小禪，但還是愛小禪。直至他看見懷祖和小禪以留美科學家的姿態自美返港，他才發現過去一段情不能再燃起火花，唯有雅萍給他的，才是真愛。一剎那，高凌風覺得自己長大了，過去的畢竟是一段不成熟的歲月，他擺脫了以前「女朋友」的影子，和屬於自己的「女朋友」雅萍開創另一段人生。

2 Great Actresses !!

2 all time best actresses, one from Hong Kong, one from Taiwan, plus the best romantic movie actor, directed by the best romantic film director of the 70s and we get this. Keep this gem !! |
