Very neat album.
| This is a must have for any Kotoko fan. A neat compliation of her good songs. The pictures in the booklet matches the title of the album perfectly! |

Totally Different from "Hane"...
Totally Different from "Hane"...
| First, the actual title of this CD is "Garasu no Kaze". Second, it is totally and completely different in style than "Hane". This CD is much lighter pop and not rock. I do like that on this CD, her voice can be heard clearly though. On "Hane" she was often drowned out by the music. Not this time. Her sweet voice floats pristinely on this recording. I have to say though...this CD sounds like one L-O-N-G song and doesn't have much diversity. Sure, there are fast and slow songs, but none are unique to stand out...so they all ebb and flow from start to finish. I like all the songs, but none really "move" me or "speak" to me. The only song I don't like at all is the first one. I understand she is trying to set a scene with the background noise (gun shots, a Police and EMS dispatcher talking on the radio, cars wailing, more gun shots...) but my word: it goes on for almost 2 minutes before the actual music begins it's cresendo and KOTOKO even opens her mouth. WAY over done. About 30 seconds of the scenerio would have been sufficient to get her point across. I do like that there is almost NO English on this release. I like my imports to be all in Japanese. Basically, if you are expecting a rock album that is dark and contains some stand-out hits like "Hane""...this isn't it. This is KOTOKO's mellow side, and while pleasant, isn't anything to fall over yourself to buy. But, if you see it...pick it up. It is nice and adds to any KOTOKO collection. I really do adore her voice. I like her voice best on this release, but her music better on the other. I wish I could combine the two. Maybe next time...she will! |
