YesAsia Editorial Description

ayu is ready to glitter.

Hamasaki Ayumi's latest work comes in the form of a double A-side single. Her titular up-tempo summer tune is also the commercial song for Zespri's Gold Kiwi. Ebihara Yuri and Sakaguchi Kenji will appear in the CM. As for fated, it's a mid-tempo rock ballad for the more passionate listeners. In addition, this edition also includes the titular track Secret from Ayu's eighth album, which is also featured in the Japanese theatrical version of the Hong Kong blockbuster Confession of Pain, starring Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Takeshi Kaneshiro. Presenting devotees with a triple Ayu treat, this release has high hopes of making it big in the summer music charts.

This edition comes with a DVD featuring the short movie distance love.

Glittering With Awesomeness!!!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Track 1: Glitter
This song is adorable that it's not even funny! It's very catchy and even if you don't care for it much, the chorus will get stuck in your head. Gotta love that. I also love the beat for it as well. Trust me, the LAST thing you wanna do is sit still when listening to this song! That's literally like a death sentence—well, at least to me! *Laughs* (10/10)

Track 2: Fated
My God. This was such sad ballad. It hits your heart the moment you listen to it. The song itself takes a minute or so to get into, but by the time the first chorus comes around, it gives you such an intense feeling that you're not sure if you're going to cry or your heart's going to come out of your chest. I guess the best advice for this song is to grab some tissues...you're gonna need it. (10/10)

Track 3: Secret
Even though I own this song within the "Secret" album, it's still refreshing to listen to every now and then. The passionate vocals and beautiful lyrics make this a perfect ballad. Every time I hear it, I am literally transfixed by its mere beauty. Gorgeous ballad. (10/10)

Tracks 4 & 5: Instrumentals.
As always the instrumentals are AMAZING! I have nothing more to say. (10/10)

Another great single by the wonderful Ayu. Utter perfection from start to finish. Please support this talented woman and get this single! It'll be something you'll cherish forever and ever.

good start on her new chapter Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
glitter is a typical summer jam..a bit simliar to the blue bird side..with a bit of techno beat..an overall nice fast song

fated is a slow song with a build up of guitars and drums..this is what ayumi has been doing lately..her 'secret' album was heavily based on the rock side..it's no surprised fated is too
everything blends well together..and ayumi sings this song w/passion and emotion

overall nice start to her new chapter
ayumi has been changing her music style a lot over the past few years..i like the change..and hopefully her next album is a great spark too

Far better than expected. Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
I have to admit, though I follow Ayu religiously, her singles lately weren't cutting it for me. Startin`/Born to Be and BLUE BIRD just didn't make it up to par. The songs seemed pretty boring and repetative, though all the other songs on Secret were wonderful, in my opinion.

This single has blow the other previous singles away. No, Glitter sounds NOTHING like BLUE BIRD. The rhythm was very different. If anything, Glitter sounds similar to Greatful Days. Personally, Glitter was a great song. Ayu's English was very rough, but absolutely adorable.

Fated was a wonderful rock track. When I heard she made ANOTHER rock song, I thought it would be terrible. I thought 1LOVE was terrible at first, but quickly liked it after a few listens. Fated got me on the first listen, it immediately grabs you into it. Her voice is very good in this song, far better than glitter. You can hear the emotion behind it, since the song itself is very touching.

Now, my only problem with this single was that they put secret as the extra track. Why on earth would they do that? Usually, it'd have a remix or a new version of a song, not a song from a previous album. In fact, there were remixes of glitter, but only certain people were allowed to listen to them. I guess they realised this, since the new single Talkin` 2 Myself has a nice version of fated on it.

pretty good... Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
These two new songs by Ayu are good as usual, but not as fantastic as others have been...

Glitter: This song took a while to grow on me. At first, i didn't really like the melody of the verses, but now i do, it is a pretty good song. Pretty catchy.

Fated: This is the better song out of the two. A beautiful rock ballad. This song is sad but i love listening to it.

As for the music videos...I wasn't too sure how the whole short film thing would work out, but after seeing both videos, I think that it was a very good idea. The video for Glitter was cute cause it's about her falling in love, and Fated is such a tearjerker, I love watching these two back - to - back

If you want to buy this single it's not a waste of money, but i personally am just going to wait for the album to come out.

Make sure you get the video Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
version of this great single. You'll miss the whole point if you don't. I really love these songs and the videos with Shawn Yue are to die for. In fact, thanks to these videos, I am now a Shawn Yue fan. (waiting for a 2008 calendar, BTW, dear). If he was already a star in HK, he will now be a superstar, thanks to his performance in this video. Love it!
