After getting into a car accident on a rainy night, psychiatrist Miranda Grey (Halle Berry) wakes up as a patient in the mental asylum she works for. She has been accused of murdering her husband (Charles S. Dutton), but has no recollection of the incident. The last thing she remembers is the disturbing memory of a young girl on the road. Haunted by that vision, Miranda must get to the bottom of the mystery to prove her innocence. And the first clue is her former patient Chloe (Penelope Cruz), whose ramblings of the devil in her cell suddenly hold great significance.
