　　王安旭（江華飾）高中狀元後，娶了官家小姐林月慧（潘儀君飾）為妻。旭的畫功無人能及。慧的表哥從西域回來，前來求畫，並出示了一張很特別的紙，是張人皮。旭用人皮畫了一幅美人像。後來，美人像不見了，旭等百思不得其解。幾天後的一個晚上，旭遇見了一位畫中美人一個模樣的美女（曾黎飾）。美女自稱是仙女，因為看到旭的畫像，十分喜歡，仙魂不知不覺走進畫裡。旭以為仙女下凡與他相好，把她藏在書齋別院。
　　旭居然忘了他在上京赴考之前，曾經答應過一位女子一定回來娶她，後來女子找到他，他竟然狠下心腸縱火殺害了女子。女子死後化成厲鬼，找旭報仇……
