聡夏は17歳。母・志津枝が突然入院してしまい父・泰仁と2人きりの生活を送っている。ある日聡夏は、母が大切にしていたオルゴールの中から古い手紙と1枚の写真を見つける。それは24年前に母が書いたラブレターだった。父ではない誰かに宛てて書かれたこの手紙を読んだ聡夏は、母の初恋の相手を探し出すために長野行きのバスに乗り込む…。
母の病がきっかけとなって1人の少女が様々な出来事を経験し、やがて大人になっていく過程を優しく切なく描いた秀作。初主演作「がんばっていきまっしょい」で各映画祭新人賞を総なめにした田中麗奈の主演第2作目である。監督は「月とキャベツ」の篠原哲雄。共演の原田美枝子、真田広之、平田満らベテラン勢の演技も光る。

A Flawless and Wonderful Movie. Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This is a movie which represents the artistic merit
of so many wonderful Japanese movies. It tells a
moving story of a seventeen year old girl and her
relationship with her parents. Particularly her
perception of First Love and her relationship with
her sick mother and her father. Her mother's old
music box holds the secret.......
Tanaka Rena is PERFECTION in this movie. The rest
of cast were all excellent. It's such a joy to watch
a movie that flows naturally in exquisite timing and
perfect detail. Nothing is overdone even including
the beautiful music. I LOVE this movie!
