Sayoko (Kaori Momoi) is desperate to bear a child of her own, but his live-in boyfriend Shinsaku (Tsunehiko Watase) strenuously objects to the idea. One day, someone leaves behind a six-year-okd child at their door, claiming that Shinsaku is the father of the the child! It turns out that a night-lady has left the child with her neighbours and ran away to South America with another man. She wrote in a letter saying that apart from Shinsaku, four other men could possibly be the father of the child. Then Sayoko and Shinsaku set out on a journey to find the real father to the child. On the way, Sayoko recalls lost memories of her late mother, which turns the journey into a search for her own childhood.

Entertaining "road" movie Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
"Heaven Sent" is a "road" movie and, like most good "road" movies, it is about much more than the pilgrimage undertaken by the trekkers. Sayoko (Kaori Momoi) and Shinsaku (Watase Tsunehiko) have been shacking up together without the benefit of marriage. Like most people in such an uncommitted but intimate relationship, they have grown bored and fed up with each other. This is a "couple" who have drifted through life. Sayoko is an unsuccessful actress and Shinsaku is paid to cheer at sporting events.

Just when they are about to split up, a young boy is dumped in the lap of the irresponsible Shinsaku, together with a letter from an old girlfriend that states that Shinsaku is one of five men who might be the boy's father. The old girlfriend has fled to South America and entrusted the boy to Shinsaku's care. Shinsaku wants nothing to do with the boy. He departs on a trip to find the other four potential fathers and give the boy to one of them or, alternatively, to extort "child support" money out of them. Sayoko accompanies him on the trip in search of her own roots.

The trip turns out to be a journey of discovery for both of them. I won't reveal all the surprises that the movie has in store for the viewer, but rest assured that Shinsaku and Sayoko grow and change for the better during the course of their trip. "Heaven Sent" provides solid entertainment and another fine performance from the always-interesting Kaori Momoi. Go along for the ride ... you won't regret it!
