Hero City (a.k.a. City of Heroes) is the first television drama to cover the Japanese bombing of Chongqing during WWII, a five-year terror campaign that claimed thousands of lives. In order to realistically capture history and pay tribute to those who lost their lives during the war, the crew did large-scale location shooting at key historical locations like Hualong Bridge and Luoqi and especially re-created 1930s street scenes. Starring award-winning actor Tse Kwan Ho, TVB actors Joyce Tang and Marco Ngai, and Mainland star Tong Lei, this stirring drama revolves around the heroic struggle of the Zhou family and the undying spirit and courage that earned Chongqing the name Hero City.

Set against the backdrop of the Second Sino-Japanese War, HERO CITY is about Zhou and his children who lived in the Chinese provisional capital of Chongqing and caught in the turbulence of war. As the Japanese bombed Chongqing heavily for five years, Zhou's children continued to fight bravely and selflessly for their country and their hometown, thus earning Chongqing the nickname "Heroic City".
