Good Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
Lee Homs prior Cd probably more memorable to me. This Cd finally gave him the recognition but some of the song just lacked creativity. Why that foolishness with Jin? When was the last time he was a recognized rapper. Big City small love is the signature song and only great song in this album. Others were all relative average. Even though this is the album in which he finally got his proper recognition and most deservingly so but please go litsen to his prior Cds instead. They are of much higher quality....

just getting better and better Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Leehom's been around for a long time.. I always knew him by name since 6-7 years ago. He never caught my attention because I thought his older songs just weren't that good. Ever since Shangri-la, his music's been getting better and better. His "Chinked-out" style is really something =) Heroes of Earth is simply amazing.

definitely worth buying! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I sort of gave up Chinese music for a while and went into Japanese music. But when Leehom's album was released, I immediately fell in love with it. I listened to every track of the album, which I don't normally do. I'm not a big fan of hip-hop, but his songs make it so hard not to like. I like the collaboration with Rain and Lim Jeong Hee too. The trio made a wonderful song.

Wow Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Wow this guy is really good. Even though I'm chinese I don't listen to chinese music because I tend to fall asleep lol, but my friend recommende this guy and I have to say his music is really interesting. It's different fromt he pop/sappy sounding songs that alot of asian singers have.

I like how every song seems to have it's unique personality. I was a bit iffy becuase you I find asian music a bit trite, but this guy is really good. I'm going to try his other music out, but wow he's def, opened some doors for me for Asian music.

I especially like tracks 1,2,3,4,5,6,9 :)
Try it out, especially for those who have given up on asian music, this guy may just bring you back. Props to him, looknig forward to hearing more of his stuf

The good, the bad, the ugly.... Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
Let me get this out of the way first: This is a good album, above average by today's Mandarin music standards. BUT it does not deserve the overwhelming praise its getting.

"The Good":
Lee Hom's voice is as rich and versatile, and his rapping has come a long way since the days of W-H-Y, displaying much better flow. Musically speaking, no surprises here. The standard staple of pop, ballads, hip-hop, R&B - pretty much what he did for Shangri-La. This time around, there's tighter integration with his blend of traditional Chinese elements. Track #2 is the perfect example: He's managed to somehow fuse Peking opera and R&B to great effect.
Another plus for bringing in legendary Chinese MC Jin on board for Track 3.

"The Bad":
While I find his Chinese-Western music fusion innovative, and give him props for trying, it still seems really shallow to me. Peel off the pretty coat of Chinese instrumentals, and you're left with some pretty generic R&B/ hip hop beats. And as a whole, his songs lack longevity. Take an objective listen - he tends to overuse the choruses for his more upbeat songs. Track 5 is the prime offender. Another gripe: Unlike in the past, Lee Hom does not progressively take his songs to the 'next level' with variations in arrangements and increasing intensity of his voice. In Track 4 & 7, he pretty much sings the same way throughout the entire song. Contrast this with his earlier works - "Ni Bu Zai" & "Wei Yi" to see what I mean.
And yeah, Rain (the Korean Usher wannabe) adds nothing whatsoever to his half-hearted feature in Track 5.

"The Ugly":
-His coining of the term "Ch***ed out": Just because African-Americans use a racially derogatory term to refer to each other doesn't mean we Chinese have to follow suit. And even when they do print it, they censor it out.
-Despite his squeaky-clean image, Lee-Hom's still attempts to be 'street' . Well, at least he doesn't claim to not be 'your average thug' from the 'ghetto' anymore. lol

Overall:
Interesting, if short-lived, album from Lee Hom. No surprises, and definitely not a masterpiece.

Recommended: Tracks 1, 2, 3, 6.

This is an Inspirational Album!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I was never a Leehom fan and I still can't say that I am, but this album is absolutely awesome!! Leehom has proven his talent in creating good music. But what I find most impressive is for him, a Chinese boy raised overseas (who speaks Chinese with a strong English accent), to understand & appreciate Chinese culture & put in such great effort to learn Chinese Opera & incorporate it in popular R&B music! This is beyond words... Those of you out there who haven't listened to this album, you must get one asap as this is Leehom's best! Now, for those who are incapable of appreciating this album, I suggest you open up your mind and heart and listen again because it is really your lose if you can't appreciate the songs.

Indeed, a Hero. Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
This being my first time listening to Leehom Wang, I can't sing his praises based on previous albums--but let me sing them for this album! I'd nearly given up listening to anything innovative and fresh in Chinese, the CPOP scene was horribly repetitive and unoriginal. Wang amazingly mixes R&B and Pop elements with traditional Chinese instruments and sounds for a sweet trip down groove lane. I don't even know where to begin to tell you how great this album is. Someone who can actually sing with beats that are worthwhile listening to? Things that seem so hard to find anymore in the R&B come quite naturally to Wang, apparently. My favorites on this golden album are probably, all equally wonderful--so they're not listed by favor--, Track 2 "Mistake in the Flower Field" shows Wang's amazing vocal range and soulful voice over a slow backtrack mixed with pretty and haunting traditional Chinese opera, Track 8 "Brothers" blends funk and rap for a nice bob-your-head track. But no worries, Wang even has ballads on this album to slow it down with, "Kiss Goodbye", Track 6 "Big City, Small Love", and Track 7 "The First Morning" in which he produces a somewhat generic CPOP sound, but still shines. Some of the better tracks feature Rain (track 5) AND up-and-coming Lim JeongHee who both add a lot of Korean soul to this album that is uncomparable for any other artist I've seen in the CPOP scene. Track 1 "Beside Plum Blossoms" has a simple rap and light synthetic rap beat that is enjoyable, but easily tiresome. Still, Wang does a remarkable job and has made me interested in more of his works. If you love R&B, CPOP or both this album would be the best thing for you to listen to! I'm still amazed I hadn't listened to Wang Leehom sooner!! He has redeemed my faith in Chinese-singing R&B artists, haha.
