Matsu Takako not into R&B + Rock, but Has Fascinating Voice You will Listen to Again and Again

After a long absence of one and a half years, Matsu Takako has finally released her new compilation "home grown", which incorporates her mini-CDs "Clover", "Hana no youni" and "Ashita ni kuchizuke wo".

Matsu Takako performs "Clover" with a beautifully crisp voice, showing huge improvements as far as the clearness and her vocal gamut are concerned. Her leave from the music scene has not caused her skills to deteriorate one bit and her wholehearted passion can really be heard. With regard to the melody, it falls into the category of the classic J-pop ballad. "Clover" is the theme song of a TV commercial, which has been broadcast in Hokkaido before and the song received exceptional responses after its release.

The second track "Fuyu no tremolo" presents another solid production and keeps up the usual standard, regardless of whether the song arrangement, its depth of meaning or the song editing is concerned.

Track 3 "Ashita ni kuchizuke wo" no longer sees Matsu Takako singing in high pitch, but rather presents a more harmonic and down to earth performance, which most probably is the one preferred by the majority of her listeners.

The frolic tune of track 4 "Vanilla ice" features Takako's cheeky side. So, do you rather prefer a shy and reserved or comparatively bolder Matsu Takako? For this song the star also utilizes a few flute and organ sounds.

As for track 5, "Ai ga watashi ni oshiete kuretakoto", it comes with a bit of the flavor typical of Tamaki Koji songs, listeners will especially fall for the pining sound of the electric guitar blending with Matsu Takako's chanting voice. Furthermore, nobody should miss the saxophone passage of this tune.

The listening pleasure offered by track 6 "Koi no wasurekata" and track 7 " Mahiru no tsuki " is also quite formidable.

Track 8 "Hana no youni" probably features this album's heaviest rhythms, while the tune's flavor is slightly retro oriented.

The ninth track "Nichiyou ha doko he itta" comes with a bit of a Rumba beat and even though it does not fall into the category of dance songs, it nevertheless is quite danceable.

Fans of Matsu Takako no doubt will accept her rather leveled singing style. She is not familiar with R&B and she does not like any Rock 'n Roll, yet the beauty of her voice guarantees everybody to listen to her songs over and over again!

Recommended Songs: "Clover", "Fuyu no tremolo", "Ashita ni kuchizuke wo"

I LOVE IT! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This album is amazing! I have loved Matsu ever since I heard "Harvest Songs" and I am delighted I bought this disk. It's more up-beat than "Harvest Songs", but that turns out to be a good thing! I had thought Matsu a ballad singer only, but this CD shows I was wrong. She can do it all...and does it brilliantly. Even though this CD is not new (it's from over a year ago), it doesn't SOUND old, and I know I will listen to it a lot until she releases something brand-new. I eagerly await ANYTHING by her. In fact, I saw here at YesAsia, Matsu has a new single out...I can only hope a full album is to IMMEDIATELY follow. Because once you have heard Matsu sing, you want more and you want it NOW. She is so great. I love her crisp, soprano voice that is so well-trained she can sing anything at all and make it enchanting. She doesn't breathe her way through her music as too many newer J-Pop artists are doing...she really SINGS and puts her heart into her songs that are totally engaging and entertaing. Even though she is still not a rocker...this CD shows she can do more than simple ballads. Song number 4 is solid proof of that! It's a true departure for Matsu, but she shines right through it, regardless. I am only saddened that there are a few instrumental songs on this disk...I prefer songs where Matsu SINGS! I love hearing her voice and she really brightens up a room whenever this CD hits the player. It might be considered too eccletic by some casual listeners, but to the true Matsu fan, it merely showcases her HUGE ability to conquer ANY style of music with flare and finesse. She has won me over for as long as she chooses to sing. I just wish she put CDs out sooner. She seems to have long delays between albums. I wish she was an artist who put out an album a year at least...or sooner. After hearing this and "Harvest Songs", I find I cannot WAIT for her next album. The single she has out is a teaser...I want a WHOLE CD! Matsu is the best. Maybe too mellow for TRUE J-Pop listeners, but for those who like slower tunes with absolute talent this is the artist for you! Come on, now Matsu...more CDs, please...

Regarding "Home Grown"... Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Compare to her previous albums, this album is her best album so far. "Hana no you ri" for instance, has given listeners a great pleasure enjoying her music. In addition, this song "Nichiyou wa Doko e Itta" display her unquie singing style which matsu takako didn't tried before in her previous albums. Overall, I think everyone should buy this album.

SHE'S HOT!!! I LOVE HER PICTURES!!!
Her songs are okay...
The only reason I like her is because she's very good-looking. Trust me, I'm a Japanese kid. I know good looking girls from bad looking girls...
