Fascinating, heart warming love story
| I have just finished watching the DVD version of Hotelier with the English subtitles which I bought for Yesasia.com. The pictures are very clear and sharp and the music is fantastic too. It is worth the money to buy this collector's edition. There are several scenes I just love them. One was Dong Xian visited his father and asked his father "Did you ever miss your children when you sent them away?" He told his father that it is so hard to hate his parents for the rest of his life since he learned that he was abandoned. He could never give his heart to anyone. He'll just study hard and work like crazy. Never ever feels happy not even for a second in his life. Another scene was in the car on his way back to Seoul after visiting his father. He was so overcome by his own emotions the tears just dropping down his check. The other scene was at the Diamond Villa when he was about to ask Zhen Yin to dance. His facial expression was like a little lost boy and didn't know what to do. I bought the Original Soundtrack but there is one piece of music missing. After he visited his father, on his way back to Seoul, he was at the beach, with the lighthouse in the background, and also on his way to the airport to go back to the States, his monologue, the background violin music was missing from the OST. To me this omission is a biggest disappointment. However, I stiil treasure this series and will watch it again and again. For the "Hotelier" fans, go to www.hotelier2002.com on the right side of the screen clip "To Hotel." You will find a lot of reviews by the fans about his series. For these who enjoy seeing the pictures, find "Senses" scroll down to "Your Visual" then "Artistic Creations". You will find a lot of pictures. I am sure you will enjoy them trememdously. |

Hotelier
|
First Korean drama I was hooked on TV, love Bae and Song Yoon Ah and waiting for my copy in the mail. Can someone tell the producer to create part II of this, and hopefully they fell in love in real. I will be watching this over again and again, I am telling all my friends and relative about this beautiful love story. Just finished watching the last episode in the TV yesterday and thank you AZN, producers and director. Best chemistry Bae and Song Yoon, skinny and beautiful girl. |

I miss the beginning and I like to know if there is any rental store w/ English subtitle that rent this? I love Bae he is every girls dream . Can he come to USA and do a movie here. If I am a producer , He will be seen in American movie by now. Love you Bae Yong Joon. More blessings to you. |

Unconvincing Affection
| The quality of the subtitles and the DVD audio and visuals is superb, and up to the excellent standards of YesAsia. The production was polished and the story had high hopes which made it fun to watch.....for a while. Unfortuanatly, I feel the problem with Hotelier is that it was perhaps mis-cast, and the ending failed miserably.(POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD) I was never convinced of any real relationship between Bae Yong Jun and Soon Yoon-A, which in turn greatly flawed how the story progressed, since their relationship effected everything else in the story. I am not certain if this is an acting flaw or a story/character flaw. I watched the last few episodes with a degree of frustration waiting for a revelation of emotion that might have made the whole thing worthwhile....only to be left flat and unsatisfied. |

????!!!!!
| I didn't like this drama. I thought BYJ acting was dry, there was no emotion at all unlike his character in 'Did We Really Love'. |

English Subtitles
| The drama was great, but the English subtitles were poor. There was not sufficient time to read some of the subtitles. It would be helpful to keep the longer subtitles on the screen for just a few more seconds; also, there were many errors in grammar; and the repeated use of the slang "wanna" intead of "want to." It sounded very unsophisticated, especially in business scenes. |

Terrible English Subtitle
| The dram itself wasn't too bad, but English subtitle is just unbearably bad. It appears that translation is done thorough translated Chinese or Malay, but not directly from Korean. If you are after an English subtitle, never buy this version. |

Good show, but female lead miscast
|
It is a well-made show, and Bae Yongjoon is smolderingly hot as usual. He is the reason I bought these DVDs. But the Bae's love interest is seriously miscast. She is just annoying. Someone said earlier it might be a culture thing that he didn't like the female lead, but as an Asian woman, I can say, she is annoying in any culture! She is not pretty and a lousy actress. She kept making silly faces and acted like a country bumpkin. Sure she did not have Harvard education, but she is a senior manager of a top tier Hotel, for god's sake! I don't know what Bae Yong-joon's character can possibly see in her. And she never said she loved him any way. I am not saying this out of female bias, I do appreciate a good actress when I see one. Other than that, a good show. Bae looks better than in ever! |
