Towards the end of the Tang dynasty, the Emperor's rule is waning and corruption is rife, and many groups are formed in society to challenge the authorities. Out of all the groups, the most powerful is House of Flying Daggers. The government decides to send Feng Tian County's top captains Leo (Andy Lau) and Jin (Takeshi Kaneshiro) to capture the new leader within 10 days.

Leo suspects that Mei (Zhang Ziyi), the beautiful new dancer at the Peony Pavillion is the daughter of the old leader, and Leo decides to send Jin disguised as a warrior called Wind to rescue Mei, and to ensnare her trust so she'll lead them to the secret headquarters of House of Flying Daggers. But as Jin and Mei spend more time together, they begin to develop feelings and desire for each other. However, danger is lurking from all corners, and can Jin and Mei really love each other when there are secrets being hidden from both sides?

House of Flying Daggers has been accepted into prestigeous film festivals such as Cannes and Toronto to critical acclaim, as well as commercial success in Asia. The three actors, all acclaimed in the international arena, gives stunning performances as people torn between love and torn apart by betrayal. The fight choreography is staged by Ching Siu-Tung whose wonderful work is on Hero is now transferred here, with a stunning action sequence in a bamboo forest. 　　唐大中大三年，皇帝昏庸，朝廷腐敗，民間湧現不少反官府的組織，其中飛刀門以「殺富濟貧、推翻朝廷」為旗號，甚得百姓擁戴。朝廷深以為患，逐令飛刀門總部所在的捧天縣縣衙於十日內，將飛刀門幫主緝拿歸案。兩大捕頭與金捕頭急謀對策；劉捕頭懷疑新店牡丹坊的舞妓小妹是前幫主的女兒，逐用計將她拿下，押入天牢。二人並再度設下圈套︰由金捕頭化名隨風大俠，乘夜劫獄，救出小妹；藉此騙取小妹的信任，查出飛刀門的巢穴。

　　逃亡路上，兩人漸生情愫。然而，隱隱殺機正悄悄地向他們逼近…

　　859AD, the incompetent Emperor and corrupted government decline the Tang Dynasty. Rebel armies are forming; among them, underground alliance 'House of Flying Daggers' is the largest and most prestigious. Feng Tian County's two local captains, Leo and Jin are ordered to capture the House leader within ten days. Captain Leo suspects that Mei, the beautiful new dancer at the Peony Pavilion is actually the daughter of the former leader, and hatches a plan to arrest her and bring her in for questioning. At the same time, Captain Jin will pretend to be a lone warrior, Wind, rescue Mei from prison, earning her trust and escorting her to the secret headquarters of the House of Flying Daggers. The plan works but on their long journey to the House, something unexpected and uncontrollable is forming.
