Magnificent Contemporary-Trot

Korean Trot is not exactly my cup of tea but this album has proven that it is worthwhile, and deserves to be given a chance. Huh Yoon Jung manages to mesh classical Korean folk and pop-contemporary into a highly enjoyable single, "Passion". "Dalbicharae" and "Stop" are elegant compositions which use many traditional instruments while "Yeoljeong" are groovy trot tracks that make you want to get on your feet and shake your thang. The third track, "Geurium" is probably my favorite one of the set, where Yoon-jung's voice shines. These types of songs suit her well and I'd love to hear more of these sombre ballads the next time around. |
