Brilliant film, not so brilliant package

Can I start off by saying this is one of my favourite Korean films. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't yet seen it, so all I'll say is - buy it. However - two things that are disappointing with this special release are: 1 - The transfer still isn't very good. It's an improvement on the old non-anamorphic (Yuk) one, but still contains scratches and dirt. 2 - The English subtitles are terrible. Why on earth couldn't they have licensed the ones from the HK release which are good? Even taking these into consideration, this is probably the best version that is going to come out, and I fully recommend you buy it now. |

great watch
| The movie is really nice, the subtitles are a bit dodgy, but aside from that it's a great story and movie to watch. Especially like the subtle elements they put in, won't give anything away but definitely worth a buy =) The case it comes in also is pretty cool, kinda like a story book and it's magnetic on the tips to keep it shut. Extras are always fun as well. |

Great Movie, rough english subs
| "Il Mare," by far one of my favorite romantic movies ever and finally I own the dvd to replace my vcd version. The dvd packeging is excellent; and with beautiful sound and picture, this is a must own for any fan of the film. The only problem I have is with the english subtitles, which are sometimes extremely awkward. But the general meaning is easy enough to follow and doesn't distract from the overall experience much. I highley reccomend this great love story to all audiences! |

Very touching movie
|
The excellence of movies made in Korea always seem to amaze me. Il Mare is another example. Beautiful pictures, fine acting, and the music.....the music is simply wonderful. It isn't just there like backgroundmusic, but it really makes the film better. The story itself is simple, but told in a such a fashion that I was swept away with it. It is a movie made with emotion; and that shows on the screen. If you want a break from all the fast-paced action movies, and you can take the time for a story to unfold itself, I highly recommend Il Mare. |

This will always be one of Jeon Yi Hyun's movie that will be compared to her other great movie, My Sassy Girl. Buyers must bear in mind that Il Mare is NOT My Sassy Girl. So don't expect the same spectacular characters or storyline as from My Sassy Girl. With that being said... Il Mare is a fantastic romatic movie. I'm usually skeptical about cross-time movies because of the inconsistancies such as in the American movie Frequency, but Il Mare stands to be a solid movie with a great script and very charming characters. Although entirely predictable, this movie will not leave you feeling empty. It's one of those great movies that you'll watch once and sit on the shelf with your collection of Korean movies. |
