1970年代初頭、文化大革命下の北京。政治闘争に明け暮れる大人達を尻目に、シャオチュン少年は悪友たちと、合鍵をつくって人家に忍び込むことに夢中になっていた。ある時シャオチュンは、合鍵で入ったアパートで水着姿の少女の写真を見つけ、その少女に一目惚れしてしまう。やがて、シャオチュンは、その写真の少女ミーランに出会うが、彼女は兄貴分のイクーの恋人になってしまい…。
